More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a method, comprising determining an active mounting scheme for a television, employing a first group of settings if the active mounting scheme for the television corresponds to a first mounting scheme, and employing a second group of settings if the active mounting scheme for the television corresponds to a second mounting scheme.

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for configuring a television scan list. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a method comprising determining whether a channel is potentially objectionable when the channel is selected for display, providing a prompt with an option to remove the channel if the channel is determined to be potentially objectionable, and marking the channel as deleted if the option to remove the channel is selected.

Abstract: A ceiling mounting system configured to provide height and viewing angle adjustment for a flat panel display mounted thereon. An adapter plate attaches to at least one rear surface of a flat panel display. A tube, at a first end, is pivotally attached to the adapter plate, while the tube, at a second end is attached to a ceiling decoupler. The ceiling decoupler has integrated therein, a return to zero mechanism configured to withstand impact to the ceiling mounting system and/or flat panel display, and return to a default position once the impact is released. Various related media components can also be secured to the adapter plate, while the tube, in conjunction with the adapter plate allows for cable and cord routing and management. A back cover slidably engages the adapter plate to hide the rear of the flat panel display and any related media components, cables, and cords.

Abstract: A television apparatus having digital serial bus ports allows a user to select a user-designated digital video content source input such as a digital tuner of the television apparatus and digital serial bus compliant components connected to the television apparatus via the digital serial bus ports of the television apparatus, and to cause digital content from the user-designated digital content source device to be recorded onto a digital recording device connected to the television apparatus via the digital serial bus ports. The present invention allows a user to continuously record digital content onto a digital recording device (e.g. an AVHDD), whether from the TV's digital tuner or from another digital serial bus compliant device in a peer to peer arrangement. The connection is always recording, but allows the user to select or designate a digital (i.e. MPEG2) source (i.e. the TV tuner or another digital serial bus compliant device), in addition to displaying the selected content.

More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a remote control, a control element configured for vertical movement, horizontal movement and axial movement, and a television configured to activate various television features upon receiving a signal from the remote control indicating an activation direction of the control element, wherein the television is configured to activate a volume control feature when the activation direction is a first or second direction and the television is operating in a viewing mode, and wherein the television is configured to activate a television content selection feature when the activation direction is a third or fourth direction and the television is operating in the viewing mode, wherein the first, second, third, and fourth directions are each different.

Abstract: A method and apparatus enables a user to assign a given key on an input device to any specific device on a data bus network connected to the apparatus, and thereby enables the user to quickly select the specific device for control using the given key. According to an exemplary embodiment, the method includes steps of enabling a user to assign a key on an input device of the apparatus to a device on the data bus network that is indirectly connected to the apparatus, and enabling the user to select the device for control responsive to an input of the assigned key.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is presented for providing faster tuning of a digital television channel. Specifically, the present invention is directed to a digital television receiver including a tuner, at least one demodulator, a detachable security module such as a point of deployment (POD) module, a transport demultiplexer, and a microprocessor having a cache or memory device for storing “conditional access program map table” (CA_PMT) information. The cache or memory device is used to store the CA_PMT for each channel, so that upon a channel change requested by a user, the receiver may extract the stored CA_PMT from the cache rather than wait for the full program map table (PMT) to be transmitted by the broadcaster (see FIG. 2). In this way, the time required to display a requested digital television channel is significantly reduced.

It consists of a free standing upright rectangular frame an attached home plate, a loop material catch panel that fits inside the frame. A three colored adjustable loop material strike zone. Plastic baseballs covered with Velcro hook material. Tally rings attached to the top of the frame for scoring and a weighted bat handle for the batter to grip.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for selecting one of a plurality of digital video channels and analog video channels in response to user selection, in particular, when operating in a digital recording mode. The user may select the channel using either a channel scan mode, in which the user selection causes the selection of the next channel in a channel sequence, or a direct channel mode, in which the user enters a specific channel number to be selected. When operating in the recording mode, and the apparatus receives a channel selection in the channel scan mode, the apparatus selects the next digital channel in the sequence and skips any intervening analog channels. When the operating in the recording mode, and the apparatus receives a channel selection in the direct channel selection mode, the apparatus selects the channels and terminates the recording mode if the selected channel is an analog channel and maintains the recording mode if the selected channel is a digital channel.

Abstract: A method of blocking a channel that disappears and reappears includes determining whether the channel that reappeared is designated as blocked by a parental control setting that was retained when the channel disappeared, and blocking the channel if the channel is designated as blocked by the parental control setting.
