  • Publication number: 20100166832
Abstract: Silver coated nylon fibers are disclosed that can be used to make fabrics that are silver coated on one side of the fabric. Silver coated nylon fabrics provide an antimicrobial surface which remains on the surface and retains its antimicrobial characteristic until destroyed. The methods of adherence of the silver to the nylon fabric may be performed in a number of ways. The creation of a single fabric with one side silver coated and the other side being dyed or left natural is encompassed within this invention. In addition there can be more than two yarns creating the fabric such as the use of spandex to provide a more elastic garment.

  • Patent number: 7711876
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for dynamically compressing categories in a data storage library. In one embodiment, the method includes retrieving an identification of a first category in the data storage library, the first category being a last-compressed category. Next, an identification number of a first order of the first category is retrieved, the first order being a last compressed order. Compression is resumed of orders in the first category with an order next following the first order and continued with additional orders in the first category. If a predetermined amount of time has elapsed, the identification of the first category and the identification number of the order of the first category being compressed are stored. If, however, the predetermined amount of time has not elapsed and compression of the first category is complete, compression of a second category is begun.

  • Patent number: 7704237
Abstract: A medication dispensing apparatus having a manually operable plunger axially shiftable relative to the apparatus housing. The plunger is pullable relative to the housing in a proximal direction to cock the apparatus, and when the plunger is then manually pushed back toward the housing, a piston within a medicine container of the apparatus is shifted to force medication from a needle assembly at the distal end of the apparatus. The medication dispensing apparatus also includes a priming mechanism which is operated by rotating an externally accessible driver portion to prime the apparatus for use, which priming can be performed whether or not the apparatus is in a cocked state.

  • Publication number: 20090207528
Abstract: A suspension is provided, which has proximal and distal ends and a longitudinal axis extending from the proximal end toward the distal end. A rotating hinge rotates the distal end about the longitudinal axis in response to vertical motion of the distal end relative to the proximal end. In one example, the suspension includes a preformed twist deformation, which rotates the distal end about the longitudinal axis relative to the proximal end axis in a direction opposite to rotation by the rotating hinge, in response to the vertical motion.

  • Patent number: 7543181
Abstract: Provided are methods, data processing systems, recovery components and computer programs for recovering from storage failures affecting data repositories. At least a part of the recovery processing is performed while the data repositories are able to receive new data and to allow retrieval of such new data. Although new data items may be received into the repository and retrieved therefrom during recovery processing, updates to the data repository which were performed before the failure and which are then restored to the repository by the recovery processing are restored within a recovery unit of work and are inaccessible to processes other than the recovery process until successful completion of the recovery unit of work. The recovery processing ensures that the recovered repository is consistent with the state of the repository at the time of the failure, but is available for addition and retrieval of new data items before completion of the recovery processing.

  • Publication number: 20090049396
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for displaying health spatially and temporally. A status module records a health status for each of a plurality of components at a plurality of temporal instances, wherein the health status instances are recorded in a history file. An interconnection module records interconnection relationships for the plurality of clusters in a resource file. A display module displays a system graphical representation comprising a graphical representation for each of the components, each interconnection relationship for the components, a health status for each component, and a transitional health for each component. The system graphical representation is for a specified temporal instance. The transitional health portrays a change in health status over a plurality of temporal instances.

  • Patent number: 7484119
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, apparatus, computer program and computer program product for adjusting the frequency at which data is backed up. This involves receiving a target recovery time. A current estimated recovery time is then determined and the current and target times are compared. If it is determined that the current estimated recovery time has reached a predetermined threshold relative to the received target recovery time a new backup should be initiated.

  • Publication number: 20080319383
Abstract: A fluid injecting device (30) generally including a fluid delivery assembly (32) and a needle-free injecting assembly (34). The fluid delivery assembly (32) delivers or transfers the fluid medicine from a cartridge (40) into the needle-free injecting assembly (34) for injecting into a patient. A drive train (112) applies a force to a piston (64) inside the cartridge (40) during the delivery of the fluid to the needle-free injecting assembly (34) to prevent adhesion or static friction between the piston (64) and the cartridge (40). In addition, sensors can be used to help ensure the proper amount of dosage is transferred to the needle-free injecting assembly, conserve power, reduce leakage during disassembly, among other functions.

  • Patent number: 7418562
Abstract: A method to assign one or more new storage construct names to one or more logical volumes using an operator input station capable of communicating with a virtual tape system, where that virtual tape system includes a plurality of existing logical volumes and a database which includes a plurality of logical volume records. The method first defines one or more new storage construct names, associates one or more storage actions with each of those new storage construct names, and saves the new storage construct names and the associated storage actions in the database. The method then enters, using the operator input station, a range of logical volumes, selects one or more new storage construct names, associates those new storage construct name to the range of logical volumes. The method then determines if the range of logical volumes comprises existing or new logical volumes.

  • Publication number: 20080173020
Abstract: High performance propellants flow through specialized mechanical hardware that allows for effective and safe thermal decomposition and/or combustion of the propellants. By integrating a sintered metal component between a propellant feed source and the combustion chamber, an effective and reliable fuel injector head may be implemented. Additionally the fuel injector head design integrates a spark ignition mechanism that withstands extremely hot running conditions without noticeable spark mechanism degradation.

  • Publication number: 20080134662
Abstract: My invention relates to heat engines. It has the following objectives: 1) Efficient conversion of any source of heat into useful mechanical power. 2) A novel proportional control valve system based on rotary refrigerant valves controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC). This proportional valve system allows rapid response to any output power requirement. The PLC adjusts between energy supply and load requirements almost instantly. This also permits a servo mode implementation. 3) Uncontrolled runaway operation is impossible. Under adverse conditions, the system automatically de-powers. System integrity shall be maintained under all fault conditions unless an external force destroys the invention. 4) Internal heat storage inside the invention permits a slow rate of change for energy input. 5) The implementation of this invention provides for ease of construction from prototype to production of any size or scale.
