  • Patent number: 5964418
Abstract: A convergent spray gun which combines a liquid resin and dry metallic powder externally of the nozzle of the spray gun that utilizes a pair of diametrically opposing passages disposed at 0.degree. and 180.degree. relative to the central resin discharging orifice where the central orifice is approximately 0.015 inch and the air for atomizing the fluids is approximately 0.187 inch and the atomizing angle is approximately 90.degree.. The metallic filler is added to the plume of the convergent spray at the low pressure section and the ratio of the fluids are controlled by a computerized system. The spray gun, controls and mixing chambers of the resin (two part) and powder fillers are housed in separate rooms and the dust where the powder fillers are metered is controlled.

  • Patent number: 4506848
Abstract: An aircraft includes a body 10, at least one nozzle 16 mounted for movement between an aft-directed position and a downwardly directed position, the arrangement being such that when the or each nozzle 16 is directed downwardly, the thrust generated thereby is directed along a line which lies substantially on the same lateral plane as an allowable first extremity of the center of gravity of the aircraft (e.g. aftmost). A trim jet 22 is positioned to exhaust beyond a second extremity of the center of gravity (e.g. foremost) and arranged to generate a trim thrust component to compensate for movement of the center of gravity of the aircraft between the first and second allowable extremities. Two nozzles 16 may be provided one to each side of the body 10 thus allowing a yaw component to be generated by differential movement of the nozzles.

  • Patent number: 4478377
Abstract: An aircraft includes an aircraft body portion 10, a wing portion 14 attached to the body portion by means of an intermediate portion 15 whose thickness diminishes outboard of the body portion to blend with the wing portion. The intermediate portion 15 comprises upper and lower surfaces diverging rearwardly from a leading region to a region of maximum divergence. The aft portion of the intermediate region is cut away to receive propulsion jet outlet 16 which is shaped to be within a rearward projection of the region of maximum divergence of the intermediate portion. The propulsion outlet jet 16 may be directed downwardly to generate a lift component.

  • Patent number: 4011124
Abstract: A nonwoven web of thermoplastic filaments is thermally bonded by conveying the web on a rotating hollow cylindrical roll having a pervious surface and passing hot air through the web into the roll to heat the filaments to the bonding temperature. The web is restrained against the roll surface with a stationary porous fabric under pressure developed by flow of the hot air through the fabric. Means for adjusting the length of fabric in contact with the web, and for measuring tension on the fabric, are provided in the apparatus.
