  • Publication number: 20030046904
Abstract: This machine can automatically load packages of various sizes and shapes into containers in a variety of pack patterns. The machine has a package infeed system that transfers the package to a package locating system that locates the package at a stationary package placement location. A package placement vertical drive picks up the package from the stationary package placement location and can rotate the package about a vertical axis as well as lowering the package into the container and releasing it at the proper location. The package placement vertical drive grips the package by vacuum. It includes a quick attach and detach vacuum head which enables the rapid change-over of the system. The machine includes a case conveyor that moves the container along the longitudinal axis of the machine as well as to the left or right in a direction normal to the longitudinal axis of the machine.

  • Publication number: 20020175698
Abstract: A method and circuit for preventing external access to secure data of an integrated circuit while supporting DFT is disclosed. In accordance with the method the integrated circuit is automatically placed into the test mode at integrated circuit power-up from a power-down state. At power up, secure data is other than present within a secure data-path of the integrated circuit. Access is provided to the secure data path via a second data path coupled with the first secure data-path. Via the access path, data other than secure data is provided to the integrated circuit, the data for performing test functions of the integrated circuit operating in the test mode. Once data other than secure data is provided to first secure data path, the test mode is terminated and access via other than the secure ports is disabled. The test mode is only re-entered by powering down the integrated circuit and re-initialising it.

  • Patent number: 6446789
Abstract: A conveyor mechanism for transferring an article from a primary conveyor to a secondary conveyor that extends in a direction normal to the direction of the primary conveyor. The secondary conveyor has a receiving location at which it receives articles from the first conveyor. The second conveyor has a flat support surface over which a perforated continuous conveyor belt extends. A vacuum plenum is inlayed into the flat support surface and has openings in its upper plate that are located at the receiving location. A vacuum source is connected to the vacuum plenum for creating a vacuum in the vacuum plenum that pulls air through the perforated continuous conveyor belt which causes objects that are deposited on the secondary conveyor at the receiving location to be pulled to and held against the upper surface of the perforated continuous conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 6003286
Abstract: An automated packaging system that can simultaneously process a single case or a plurality of cases and can be adjusted to accommodate packages and cases of various sizes. Individual packages are fed to the packaging system on the package conveyor. The packages are recognized by the system when they energize an electric eye which causes the package to be elevated above the conveying surface of the package conveyor and stopped below a pick and place mechanism. The individual packages are elevated by plates having upper surfaces that extend through slots in the conveying surface and are stopped by vacuum cups carried by the upper surfaces of the plates. The upper surfaces of the plates are inclined which causes the packages to climb the incline which functions to decelerate the movement of the package.

Individual packages, are fed to the packaging system on the package conveyor. The packages are recognized by the system when they energize an electric eye which causes the package to be stopped and elevated below a pick and place mechanism. A plurality of cases are stopped and then positioned longitudinally, by stops carried by a first chain, on the case conveyor at locations aligned with the packages that have been stopped and elevated over the package conveyor. The pick and place head is lowered and picks up the packages with vacuum heads. The pick and place heads can be rotated to thus change the attitude of the package. The pick and place mechanism is then moved laterally over the case conveyor and the packages are lowered into the open cases.

  • Patent number: 5884749
Abstract: A conveyor system that includes a first set of rive belts having a first set of flights that can receive individual products at a given rate per product and quickly advance several individual package positions when the first set of flights are full to a discharge position. The first set of flights can pause for a discharge period that can be longer than individual products reception rate. During the pause period a second set of drive belts locates a second set of flights such that the next product that is delivered to the conveyor system, without interrupting the continuous flow is received by the second set of flights.

  • Patent number: 4907397
Abstract: An apparatus and process for packing a box with a plurality of groups of pouches or other flexible containers and inserting a support shelf between the groups. A conveyor is used to support and convey boxes such that means for inserting a first group of pouches into a box inserts a group of pouches into the top portion of a box. The boxes are then positioned such that means for inserting a suport shelf into the box inserts a shelf into the box before means for inserting a second group of pouches inserts a second group of pouches into the box. The support shelf is inserted from the bottom of the box such that the first group of pouches is supported above the second group of pouches and the support legs of the support shelf rest on the bottom of the box.

  • Patent number: 4524560
Abstract: A case top folder and flap supporter is disclosed having a pair of folding arms each disposed at one side and near the top of the case and mounted for pivotal movement from a vertical position to a horizontal position over the case so as to urge a pre-glued first set of flaps into a closed position spanning the top of the case. Fixed at the end of each such folding arm is an engaging means comprising in one form a depending hook-like projection with a concavity, and in another form a sawtooth edge, each of which is operable to engage the outer edge of a flap while such flap is being folded to the closed position. In the flap closed position the folding arms support the first flap set by maintaining engagement with the flap outer edges so that a second flap folding assembly, which comprises a pair of pre-break folding arms and a platen, can descend from above the case to fold the second flap set over and press the same into contact with the supported first flaps until the glue is set.

  • Patent number: 4347934
Abstract: A lightweight container having a readily removable corrugated sidewall. The inner ply of the sidewall is a corrugated sheet having a selected length and width. A bottom wall member is positioned adjacent the lower axial edge of the inner sheet. A flat outer sheet, of selected length and a width greater than the width of the corrugated inner sheet, is joined to the inner sheet to define the outer ply of the sidewall. The outer sheet projects beyond the lower edge of the inner sheet and is folded against and secured to the bottom wall member, to thereby restrain movement of the bottom wall member. A frangible joint is defined along which the sidewall can be severed from the bottom wall without severing the corrugated inner wall, so that the inner wall adds rigidity without interfering with the ready removal of the sidewall. In the preferred arrangement, the adjacent ends of the inner sheet are in a substantially abutting and unsealed relationship to assist in the opening of the container.

  • Patent number: 4117648
Abstract: This invention relates to a new and useful apparatus for efficiently collating flanged packages at a high speed and then positioning them in a packing carton. The apparatus comprises a collator head assmbly having a plurality of collator heads adjacent one another in a preset configuration. A plurality of air cylinders coupled to the collator heads move the heads in an inward-outward relationship relative to each other enabling collation of the packages attached to the collator heads. Means are provided to enable the collator heads to pick up packages in a preset configuration, transport them to a packaging carton and place them therein.

  • Patent number: 4027458
Abstract: This invention relates to a new and useful apparatus for filling cartons with pre-packaged bags of a product from a Bag Form Fill and Seal Machine. The apparatus comprises, in combination, a horizontal feeder that transfers the bags to a vertical flite conveyor; said conveyor conveying the bags to a hopper having a trap door. A carton is positioned under the trap door of the hopper for receiving the bags. When a pre-set number of bags have passed through the hopper into the carton, the trap door closes. The carton, while it is being filled, is continually subjected to a series of impacts that enables the bags to lay flat within the carton. When the carton receives the pre-set number of bags, the impacting ceases and the carton is transferred to an output conveyor.
