  • Publication number: 20130326620
Abstract: A metric value is determined for each event in a set of events that characterizes a computational communication or object. For example, a metric value could include a length of a URL or agent string in the event. A subset criterion is generated, such that metric values within the subset are relatively separated from a population's center (e.g., within a distribution tail). Application of the criterion to metric values produces a subset. A representation of the subset is presented in an interactive dashboard. The representation can include unique values in the subset and counts of corresponding event occurrences. Clients can select particular elements in the representation to cause more detail to be presented with respect to individual events corresponding to specific values in the subset. Thus, clients can use their knowledge system operations and observance of value frequencies and underlying events to identify anomalous metric values and potential security threats.

  • Publication number: 20130318236
Abstract: A system and computer-implemented is provided for displaying a configurable metric relating to an environment in a graphical display along with a value of the metric calculated over a configurable time period. The metric is used to identify events of interest in the environment based on processing real time machine data from one or more sources. The configurable metric is selected and a corresponding value is calculated based on the events of interest over the configurable time period. The value of the metric may be continuously updated in real time based on receiving additional real-time machine data and displayed in a graphical interface as time progresses. Statistical trends in the value of the metric may also be determined over the configurable time period and displayed in the graphical interface as well as an indication if the value of the metric exceeds a configurable threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20130318604
Abstract: A disclosed computer-implemented method includes receiving and indexing the raw data. Indexing includes dividing the raw data into time stamped searchable events that include information relating to computer or network security. Store the indexed data in an indexed data store and extract values from a field in the indexed data using a schema. Search the extracted field values for the security information. Determine a group of security events using the security information. Each security event includes a field value specified by a criteria. Present a graphical interface (GI) including a summary of the group of security events, other summaries of security events, and a remove element (associated with the summary). Receive input corresponding to an interaction of the remove element. Interacting with the remove element causes the summary to be removed from the GI. Update the GI to remove the summary from the GI.

  • Patent number: 8579535
Abstract: A micro-coupling active release mechanism including a shape memory alloy (SMA) cylindrical ring that is fit into a bushing or other mating attachment creating an interference joint held in place by frictional forces. The interference joint can be released upon actuation in which the SMA cylindrical ring is heated causing it to shrink in size, relieving the frictional forces of the interference joint thereby releasing the SMA cylindrical ring from the bushing or other mating attachment.

  • Patent number: 8355478
Abstract: Method and system for aligning a clock signal to parallel data are described. According to one embodiment, a clock shifting circuit shifts an incoming clock signal relative to an incoming data signal, and a data clocking circuit uses the shifted clock signal to reclock the incoming data signal. The clock shifting circuit may comprise a phase locked loop (PLL) coupled with multiple D flip flops (DFFs) connected in series. Divisional combinatorial logic may be disposed between DFFs in the series. Data clocking circuits may comprise one DFF to reclock each incoming data bit, a pair of DFFs to reclock each incoming data bit, or other circuits such as true-complement blocks to serve as local oscillators to mixers. Multiple shifted clock signals may be produced, such as those shifted 60, 90, 120, 180, 240, and 270 degrees relative to the incoming clock signal.

  • Patent number: 7874468
Abstract: A sizer for a garment hanger configured to extend over a garment hanger comprising a body. The body has an outer surface and an inner surface, and defines a cavity with an upper opening and a lower opening. The body further having a central region with a first wall and a second wall spaced apart therefrom, and, a first curved wall spanning between the first wall and the second wall and a second curved wall spanning between the first wall and the second wall. The first and second curved walls are outwardly convex and define a peak region on each of the first and second curved walls. Applying a pinching force upon the first and second curved walls toward each other drives the first wall and second wall further apart, to, in turn, temporarily widen at least one of the lower and the upper openings of the body.

  • Patent number: 7786739
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include testing arrangements for detecting proper DC-coupled board connections on the input legs of a differential receiver. The testing implementation includes a first test receiver AC-coupled to the connection between the first input/output (I/O) pad and the differential receiver positive input and/or a second test receiver coupled to the connection between the second I/O pad and the differential receiver negative input. The test receiver protects the test receiver input from DC voltages applied to the differential receiver via the differential receiver input. Also, the test receiver includes a high-pass filter arrangement that generates data capable of detecting whether the I/O pad connected to the test receiver has a proper DC-coupled connection or an improper connection when presented with a stimulus pulse. The test receiver is less susceptible to noise because than conventional arrangements that use a low-pass RC filter.

  • Patent number: 7776014
Abstract: The present invention provides a disposable trumpet valve tube cassette assembly, as well as, a surgical irrigation instrument that includes a probe assembly, a pump, a removable pump cartridge, and a socket. The probe assembly provides passage of fluids for irrigating the body interior and for evacuating matter from the body interior. The pump provides for pumping irrigation fluid through the probe assembly into the body interior. A pump cartridge defines a pumping chamber. Electronic control circuitry includes an electronics controller and a trumpet valve switch interface. The electronics controller includes a pulse generator that generates pulses, the duty cycle of the pulses controlling the speed of the motor. The trumpet valve switch interface is in electronic connection to a switch, the interface providing a signal to the controller.
