  • Publication number: 20230349108
Abstract: A system adjusts an instantaneous turn center for a paving machine having a tow vehicle and a screed assembly towed by the tow vehicle such that no portion of the screed assembly moves backward over freshly laid pavement when the paving machine paves around a curve. The system receives an input from an operator, a sensor, and/or a database. The input includes a distance and a direction from a first vertical axis defined by a traction device of the tow vehicle on a side of the tow vehicle facing the curve, to a second adjusted vertical axis defined by a point at least as far from the first vertical axis as an outer edge of the screed assembly that touches the curve. The system receives the input, and adjusts the instantaneous turn center for the paving machine to coincide with the second adjusted vertical axis.

  • Publication number: 20220071241
Abstract: A digital pressure canner and related methods of operation that provide for improved safety and consistency during a food canning process by reducing temperature over and undershoot. The digital pressure canner includes a digital control operating with inputs from digital sensors to accurately control the canning temperature during the canning process. By reducing over and undershoot of canning temperatures, foods within the pressure canner are maintained at temperatures sufficient to kill any bacteria or microorganisms for the entire canning cycle. In order to verify operation of the digital canner at sufficient canning temperatures, mechanical safety devices, for example, a pressure relief valve can be utilized in conjunction with digital controllers and sensors to provide audible and visual feedback to a user during the canning process.

  • Publication number: 20210106176
Abstract: A deep fryer and related methods of frying a whole turkey in a reduced cooking oil volume. A frying basin can have a rounded profile avoiding dead spaces within the frying basin. The frying basin can include a recessed channel at a bottommost portion of the frying basin to accommodate a heating element, such that the heating element does not project above a floor of the frying basin. The deep fryer can have a rotisserie assembly for mounting and rotating the whole turkey such that only a lower half of the whole turkey is submerged within the cooking oil at any one time. The deep fryer can include a kick-stand feature that allows a user to lower and raise the rotisserie assembly including the whole turkey using only one hand such that a user need not lean over or otherwise put their hands or body above the frying basin.

  • Patent number: 10407844
Abstract: A material feed system for a paving machine includes a first optical sensor and a second optical sensor that are configured to generate data characteristic of paving material associated with corresponding ones of a left feed mechanism and a right feed mechanism of the paving machine. A controller is communicably coupled to the first optical sensor, the second optical sensor, a left conveyor, and a left auger of the left feed mechanism, and a right conveyor and a right auger of the right feed mechanism. The controller is configured to control the left material feed mechanism and the right material feed mechanism independently of each other such that the left conveyor and auger speeds are independently adjusted based on the data received from the first optical sensor and the right conveyor and auger speeds are independently adjusted based on the data received from the second optical sensor.

  • Patent number: 10016092
Abstract: A countertop appliance having a detachable base with rotatable handles for selectively engaging a pan or cooking surface of the appliance. The rotatable handles of the detachable base are rotatable between a locked position in which the pan is secured to the base preventing separation of the pan from the base and a disengaged position where the pan can be lifted off the base. The rotatable handles can also be rotated into a stored position in which the handles are positioned within the detachable base, whereby the detachable base can be placed within the pan to facilitate storage and reduce overall shipping volume.

  • Patent number: 5680997
Abstract: An appliance for processing food items including a first housing and a second housing releasably attached to the first housing. The first housing has a handle to facilitate hand-held use. A cutting member is mounted in the second housing and apparatus is mounted in the first housing for driving the cutting member. The driving apparatus is connected to the cutting member and actuated by a switch. A locking member secures the two housings together and an alignment mechanism is provided to position the housings for proper operation of the locking member. In one embodiment the locking member is operatively connected to the switch so that when the appliance is turned on the two housings are simultaneously locked together. The cutting member is a plastic hollow frusto-conical housing with metal cutting blades integrally molded into the housing.
