  • Patent number: 6904717
Abstract: A power drive system is adapted for a sliding door mounted on at least one side of a vehicle for sliding movement forwardly and rearwardly of the vehicle. The system includes a reversible motor. A bracket is guided within a guide along a fixed path between the opened and closed positions of the door. An elongated drive member is slidably disposed within the guide and connected to the bracket at one end for driving the bracket along the fixed path. A translator mechanism operably engages with the drive member for powering movement of the door. The translator mechanism can include a rotatable hub, operably engageable with the drive member, a gear transmission for driving the hub, and a clutch mechanism for connecting the motor to the transmission. The translator mechanism preferably has sufficient power to pull the sliding door into a primary latch position with respect to the corresponding portions of a latch mechanism attached to the door and frame defining the door opening.

  • Patent number: 6429933
Abstract: An assembly (10) for sensing moisture (20) on the exterior surface (22) of a windshield (14) from a position spaced from the interior surface (18) of the windshield (14). The assembly (10) includes a focal plane detector (12) comprising a plurality of pixels (24) adapted for disposition in spaced relationship to the interior surface (18) of the sheet of glass (14). An imaging lens (16) is adapted for disposition between the focal plane detector (12) and the interior surface (18) of the sheet of glass (14) for directing light waves from moisture (20) on the exterior surface (22) of the sheet of glass (14) through the imaging lens (16) to produce successive images of the moisture (20) on the focal plane detector (12).

  • Patent number: 5616997
Abstract: A closure system for a motor vehicle includes a closure, a closure frame, an electric motor, a control switch, an electric power source, first and second displacement sensors, temperature sensor, voltage sensor of the power source and a microprocessor. The first and second displacement sensors each operably generate a signal indicative of the one of closure movement and output shaft rotation. The microprocessor is electrically connected to the control switch, the electric motor, the first and second displacement sensors, the temperature sensor and the voltage sensor of the power source. The microprocessor includes electrically connecting the motor with the power source responsive to a condition of the control switch. The microprocessor also has means for converting temperature sensed to an electrical signal indicative of the temperature.

  • Patent number: 5291498
Abstract: An error correcting code and apparatus are used in conjunction with a main memory in which a data word is stored in a plurality of circuits each of which produces multiple outputs. A minimum number of check bits are stored together with the data word for detecting and correcting single bit errors and detecting the existence of multi-bit errors. A parity bit for the entire data word is also stored. For a 32-bit data word, at least 3 bits of the data word are stored in each of 10 memory circuits. Seven check bits and one parity bit are also stored in the 10 memory circuits wherein no more than one of the check bits or parity bit is stored in any one memory circuit. Upon reading the data word from the memory a set of verify check bits and a verify parity bit are generated and compared to the stored check bits and stored parity bit to produce a check bit syndrome and a parity bit syndrome.

  • Patent number: 4018540
Abstract: A road maintenance machine is provided with a heater assembly mounted on a general purpose chassis which is adapted for selectively attaching various road working devices. The heater assembly includes multiple rows of high temperature burner units each having means for burning fuel and projecting the generated heat downward against the road surface. The rows are spaced apart to allow the top of the surface to partially cool between burner rows as the heat penetrates the pavement in order to maintain the surface temperature below its flash point but high enough to achieve sufficient heat penetration to soften the pavement material to a significant depth. Heat shields and exhaust hoods are provided between the rows of burners to confine and direct the heat and combustion products. The chassis is provided with an adjustable hydraulic mechanism to which an asphalt planer, a scarifier assembly or a grooving cylinder may be attached to work the softened pavement material.
