  • Patent number: 5705086
Abstract: Improved refrigeration lubricants useful in compression refrigeration units are esters, exhibit an excellent balance of performance characteristics, notably in the combination of good miscibility, hydrolytic stablity, wear resistance coupled with a viscosity within the range required in many commercial refrigeration units. These esters are of a hindered dihydric or trihydric alcohol such as trimethylolpentanediol and a fatty acid, where at least 80 number percent of the acyl groups are straight chain groups.

  • Patent number: 5676197
Abstract: A self-propelled windrower includes an engine compartment containing an engine-driven fan for pulling cooling air through a screen covering a circular air inlet leading into the compartment. The fan also is coupled for creating a suction in an air duct extending diametrically across the air inlet, the duct in turn being coupled to the center of a channel-like vacuum wand mounted for sweeping the exterior of the screen and removing airborne debris collected by the screen. Provided for rotatably supporting a drive shaft for the wand is a bearing support member including a cylindrical portion having an end fixed to a mounting plate secured to the air duct, the cylindrical portion having an interior end section receiving an outer race of a roller bearing having an inner race receiving and being fixed to the wand drive shaft. An electric drive motor is located within said compartment and mounted to said air duct at a side thereof remote from said screen.

  • Patent number: 5674596
Abstract: A component for use in manufacturing articles such as printed circuit bards comprising a laminate of a sheet of copper foil and a sheet of aluminum or the like. A band of flexible adhesive joins the sheets around their borders and creates a protected central zone at the interface of the sheets. Islands of adhesive are located inwardly of the edges of the sheets through which tooling pin holes may be formed to facilitate handling of the foil.

  • Patent number: 5649606
Abstract: A steering and ground speed control mechanism of a vehicle equipped with a dual-path hydrostatic drive system includes a pivot plate fixed to a vertical pivot post at a location between and equidistant from a pair of locations respectively linked to a pair of pump displacement control arms of a pair of pumps respectively coupled for delivering fluid to right- and left-hand drive motors coupled to right- and left-hand ground wheels. A train of elements for transferring steering inputs from a steering wheel to the pivot plate includes a timed belt and sprocket set with one of the sprockets being fixed to the pivot post and the other mounted to a fixed post together with a quadrant-shaped steering rack for pivotal movement about the fixed post in concert with the rack. Pivoting the pivot plate in opposite directions from a centered position causes different displacements of the pumps and, hence, in the two drive motors being driven at different speeds.

  • Patent number: 5256474
Abstract: There is disclosed a dual purpose separator-release plate (30) for the use in the lamination and drilling of printed circuit boards, comprising a substrate sheet of aluminum foil (32), covered on both sides with release material (34), the plates being placed in engagement with the foil surfaces (6) and (8) of a PC board prior to curing the epoxy layer (4), after curing, retaining the separator-release plates in engagement with the PC board, and which plates serve as drill entry and drill backup material.

  • Patent number: 4921420
Abstract: A child resistant disposable lighter is disclosed. The design utilizes a safety mechanism which is designed to be difficult for small children to operate and which may be inexpensively and efficiently incorporated into existing disposable lighter designs. The design is presented in several embodiments which have improved effectiveness by operating with regard to anatomical differences rather than solely increasing the strength required to operate such a lighter. Embodiments include mechanisms which utilize a release means that is separated from the conventional lighting means by a sufficient distance to make it difficult for small children to operate. By also focusing on commercial realities, the invention is designed to be easily implemented on a cost efficient basis by existing manufacturers through only a minor modification of existing molds and assembly techniques.

  • Patent number: 4636902
Abstract: A dual magnetic head assembly is provided with asymmetrical crosstalk shielding. One of the heads includes a pair of mu-metal washers sandwiching a copper washer, the stacked washers surrounding the portion of the head including the read-write gap. The washers are enclosed within a copper plated mu-metal cap having a central opening through which the gap-containing portion of the head projects for cooperation with a magnetic medium. The other head is unshielded.
