  • Patent number: 5291654
Abstract: A method for casting metering holes connecting the inner and outer surfaces of hollow investment cast objects, such as hollow air cooled gas turbine airfoils. The method incorporates mini cores having metering hole pins which extend further into the inner cavity than the surface of the cavity, so that the ends of the holes can be exposed by a subsequent machining operation. The method also includes forming a wax pattern which avoids contact between the wax and the metering hole pins so that the pins are not broken by the wax during the heatup portion of the wax removal step after formation of the ceramic casting mold.

  • Patent number: 5050665
Abstract: The tapered core/shell lock includes notches which, in conjunction with protrusions from the shell mold, prevent axial slip of the core main body. In addition, the core/shell lock provides a tapered core print area which is much larger, and extends further into the shell mold, then the conventional "T" bar core/shell lock. By increasing the axial length of the core print area, shifting at the tip of the core main body is reduced, while tapering of the core print eliminates the need to lacquer slip the end of the core/shell lock, eliminating addtional sources of core shift.

  • Patent number: 4867448
Abstract: A device to allow an object to be hit and which will return the object to its original position. The device is comprised of an object for hitting with an opening through the center allowing attachment to an elastic member suspended at the upper end to a solid object and retained in a given position at the lower end by any suitably weighted mechanism or solid object. This device will allow one to hit the object for hitting with the object for hitting being continously returned to the original hitting position.
