    Abstract: A garment has a particular stitched seam that very effectively cooperates with a seam sealing tape to provide an effective and long lasting seal at the seam. First and second portions of the fabric are joined together by a stitched seam comprising a 300 class stitch with Top stitch, using about Tex 30 or smaller thread, and the seam sealing tape seals the stitched seam. The thread may comprise a polyester continuous filament sewing thread size Tex 30-10, with about 8-10 stitches per inch. The 300 class stitch may comprise a plain stitch, and the stitched seam may comprise a superimposed seam. The seam is readily produced using either a Single or Double Lockstitch Machine which contains one or two needles, one or two hooks, and one or two bobbins, respectively.

    Abstract: A durable, water-resistant, breathable, multi-layer laminate adapted to transmit moisture and composed of (1) an outer woven, non-woven or knitted layer of fabric, (2) a discontinuous non-breathable hydrophobic adhesive, (3) a first hydrophilic barrier film adhesively secured to the outer fabric layer, by the hydrophilic adhesive, (4) a continuous film or discontinuous breathable hydrophilic adhesive, and (5) a second hydrophilic barrier film adhered to the hydrophilic adhesive. The first hydrophilic barrier film and second hydrophilic barrier film are adhesively secured to each other with the breathable hydrophilic adhesive and define a void area between the two films and together the films enhance moisture migration and transfer. The laminates may include two additional layers of (6) a second hydrophilic adhesive, and (7) a fabric backing layer secured by the second hydrophilic adhesive.

    Abstract: A garment sealing tape or patch may be used to waterproof seams of or repair discontinuities in a wide variety of garments or other products, such as surgeon's gowns and firefighter's turnout coats, in a simple, inexpensive and long lasting manner with minimal smoke emission. The garment sealing tape or patch may include a first layer of a dimensionally stable heat reflecting film such as a polyurethane microporous film, and a second layer bonded to the first layer. The second layer is an uncured thermosetting polyurethane or polyester adhesive having a thickness between about 0.5-12 mils. The tape or patch may also comprise a third layer which is a fabric (such as a polyester tricot having a weight between about 0.7-2.5 ounces per square yard) adhesively bonded (e.g. by hot melt adhesive) to the heat reflecting surface of the film. The tape or patch may be applied by a laundry press or iron, or using an autoclave, to apply heat sufficient to thermoset the adhesive.
