  • Publication number: 20180313107
Abstract: A method of supporting an upright member from a support surface includes inserting an elongated carrier of an upright member support system into a hole in the support surface. A base of the support system is positioned at least partially around the carrier so the base contacts at least one upper surface of the support surface. A lock of the support system is releasably engaged with the carrier above the base and tightened down sufficient to maintain the base in contact with the support surface. The upright member is inserted into a bore of the carrier.

  • Patent number: 10100602
Abstract: Compositions and methods are disclosed for sealing subterranean spaces such as natural or induced fractures, vugs or annular spaces. The composition is composed of a base fluid consisting of a soluble alkali silicate, a gas generating additive, water, solids, and a setting agent. The gas generating additive may be coated or uncoated. The gas generating additive may also be in the form of a slurry. In the case of coated additives, the coating may act as a retarder or an accelerator to the expansion and setting agent of the soluble alkali silica. Similarly, the choice of carrier fluid in a slurry may retard or accelerate the expansion and setting of the alkali silicate-based plug.

  • Publication number: 20180101906
Abstract: A device has a secure element including a memory that stores at least one address, a set of rules, and a state of an asset. A processor is configured for receiving a request to change the state of the asset associated with the address, validating the request in the case where changing the state of the asset according to the request complies with the set of rules, and invalidating the request in the case where changing the state of the asset according to the request violates the set of rules. A communications module is coupled to the secure element for transmitting information responsive to the request to a distributed network of peer processors for recording a change in the state of the asset in a distributed electronic ledger in the case where the secure element validates the request.

  • Patent number: 9934428
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting a pedestrian (27) moving in an environmental region of a motor vehicle relatively to the motor vehicle based on a temporal sequence of images (18) of the environmental region, which are provided by means of a camera of the motor vehicle (1), wherein characteristic features are extracted from the images (18) and a plurality of optical flow vectors is determined to the characteristic features of at least two consecutively captured images of the sequence by means of an image processing device of the motor vehicle, which indicate a movement of the respective characteristic features over the sequence, wherein for detecting the pedestrian (27), several confidence metrics are determined based on the characteristic features and the optical flow vectors, and based on the confidence metrics, it is examined if a preset plausibility check criterion required for the detection of the pedestrian (27) is satisfied, wherein the pedestrian (27) is supposed to be detected if the p

  • Publication number: 20180089645
Abstract: An apparatus for use in a digital asset tracking system includes a storage device and a processor coupled to the storage device. The storage device stores software instructions for controlling the processor that when executed by the processor configure the processor to receive a signal representing a request comprising a first transfer from a first digital container associated with a first client to a second digital container associated with a second client. A value of the first transfer is compared to a total value in one or more accounts associated with the first client. At least one of the one or more accounts associated with the first client has a value in a first currency. A first draft is generated from a first account to an account associated with the second client. The first draft comprises a value in a second currency equivalent to the value of the first transfer.
