  • Patent number: 8002177
Abstract: An automated banking machine operates responsive to data read from data bearing records to cause financial transfers. The machine includes a card reader that reads data from user cards corresponding to financial accounts. The machine can communicate with a host computer to cash financial checks. The machine can read check indicia, send check data to the host, receive authorization from the host to cash the check, and dispense cash corresponding to the check. The machine can also produce image data representative of the check indicia and determine whether the image data can be accurately identified within a predetermined level of assurance.

  • Publication number: 20110196785
Abstract: An exemplary system includes an automated banking machine (322) which is operable to conduct transactions including cash dispensing for users responsive to communication with a transaction host (336). The machine is also operative to provide output signals which drive external displays (328, 330) which are separate from the machine. The machine is operable to receive visual and audio content from one or more broadcast content sources (342, 343) and to store the content in the machine. The content is then output through the external displays. The machine is also operative to receive and store a plurality of advertising messages. The advertising messages are output in a targeted manner to users of the machine.

  • Patent number: 7980462
Abstract: An automated transaction machine includes a card reader that can read a unique magnetic characteristic of a magnetic stripe on a card. The machine can then send data reflective of the read characteristic to a remote card validator. The card validator can compare the received data to referenced magnetic characteristic data corresponding to cards authorized for use with the machine. The machine can also communicate with a transaction host computer to carry out a financial transaction. As a result of the magnetic data comparison, an invalid card can be discovered and a fraudulent transaction prevented. Communication between the card validator and machine is independent from communication between the transaction host and machine.

  • Patent number: 7967192
Abstract: An automated transaction machine can operate to carry out a financial transaction for a machine user responsive to communication with a financial transaction host computer. The machine includes a card reader that can read a user identifier from a magnetic stripe of a user card. The machine sends the read user identifier to a remote marketing computer. The marketing computer uses a user identifier to determine the next marketing presentation to be presented to a machine user corresponding to the user identifier. Responsive to a message received from the marketing computer, the machine operates to display the determined next marketing presentation to the machine user. A marketing campaign includes a sequence of presentations to be output in a predetermined order to a machine user. Machine communication with the remote marketing message computer is independent of machine communication with the transaction host computer.

  • Patent number: 7926712
Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a cash dispenser. Servicing the automated banking machine by on-site servicer is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article which can instruct the machine computer to gather machine diagnostic data and then record the gathered machine diagnostic data onto the portable diagnostic article. The gathered diagnostic data recorded on the portable diagnostic article can then be analyzed by an analysis computer. The machine computer can verify that a portable diagnostic article is authorized to instruct the machine based on obtaining a secret code from the portable diagnostic article.
