Publication number: 20240093692Abstract: A monitoring apparatus includes: input reception circuitry configured to receive a signal indicative of a characteristic of rotating assembly rotation; and bearing wear monitoring circuitry configured to analyze the signal characteristic of rotating assembly rotation. The bearing wear monitoring circuitry is also configured to identify one or more signal features indicative of bearing wear. Bearing wear produces variation in rolling friction of the bearing and therefore is one cause of variation in shaft torque. Aspects recognise that variations in shaft torque can be indirectly monitored, measured and/or determined by appropriate measurement or monitoring of operational characteristics of a pump motor and that it may be possible to distinguish variations in shaft torque which can be attributed to bearing wear from those variations in shaft torque caused by one or more other factors.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2021Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: James Alexander Haylock, Christopher Miles, Alexander James Patey

Publication number: 20240077637Abstract: Systems and method presented herein enable the estimation of porosity using neutron-induced gamma ray spectroscopy. For example, the systems and methods presented herein include receiving, via a control and data acquisition system, data relating to energy spectra of gamma rays captured by one or more gamma ray detectors of a neutron-induced gamma ray spectroscopy logging tool. The method also includes deriving, via the control and data acquisition system, one or more spectral yields relating to one or more elemental components from the data relating to the energy spectra of the gamma rays. The method further includes estimating, via the control and data acquisition system, a measurement of porosity based on the one or more spectral yields relating to the one or more elemental components.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2022Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: James Grau, Jeffrey Miles, Richard Radtke, Laurent Mosse, ZhanGuo Shi, David Rose

Publication number: 20230267650Abstract: The present concepts relate to lossless data compression techniques for reducing the size of a data structure. Certain data in the data structure that can be either recovered from another source or rebuilt from other available information may be removed from the data structure. To further reduce data size, the retained data in the data structure may be packed into a smaller-bit encoding data type. Additionally, to reduce the data size even more, the packed data may be zipped using a lossless data compression algorithm. To regain the original data structure, the process may be reversed. The zipped data may be unzipped using a lossless data decompression algorithm. The packed data may be unpacked into the original bit-sized data encoding. The removed data may be restored by either recovering it from another source or rebuilding it from other available information.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2022Publication date: August 24, 2023Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Tad Douglas SWIFT, Adam James MILES

Patent number: 11696038Abstract: Color and exposure matching for systems, such as a videoconferencing endpoint, that have overlapping camera fields of view. The geometric relationships between the overlapping cameras are used to determine correction processing. For each camera, histograms are developed for the overlapping cameras. A dynamic threshold is determined for each histogram. Using the dynamic threshold, peak detection is performed on each histogram. Using the geometric relationships, expected histogram relationships are determined. The actual histogram relationships are compared to the expected relationships, with further processing based on the correctness of the comparison. In some of the cases of further processing, peaks of the histograms are compared to find matching and non-matching peaks. Various ratios of pixels in the various peaks are used to determine needed changes to respective cameras.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2022Date of Patent: July 4, 2023Assignee: Plantronics Inc.Inventors: James Miles Bousquet, Joseph Daniel Friel, George D. Wilson, Jr.
