Patent number: 10145770Abstract: A conveyor or drive chain wear monitor includes two sensors spaced apart from one another a predetermined distance which is less than the distance between the two selected measuring points on a chain. Two timers are provided, one of which is a chain speed timer and the other of which is the chain wear timer. The two timers are both controlled by the spaced sensors. The problem of sensor beams being broken by irrelevant beam breaking obstacles located between the successive spaced measuring points is solved by providing an ignore obstacle software routine in the wear monitor computer. The ignore obstacle software routine allows a user to program the monitor to ignore any number of irrelevant obstacles which might occur between two spaced measuring points on a chain.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2015Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: Frost Tech LLCInventors: Charles C. Frost, James A. Mitchell

Patent number: 9772179Abstract: A conveyor or drive chain wear monitor includes two sensors spaced apart from one another a predetermined distance which is less than the distance between the adjacent measuring points on a chain. Two timers are provided, one of which is a chain speed timer and the other of which is the chain wear timer. The two timers are both controlled by the spaced sensors. The upstream sensor, as determined by the direction of travel of the chain, turns the speed timer on and the wear timer off. The downstream sensor turns the speed timer off and the wear timer on. Thus, when a measuring point passes the upstream sensor, the speed timer is turned on, and is not turned off again until the same measuring point passes the downstream timer.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2014Date of Patent: September 26, 2017Assignee: Frost Tech LLCInventors: Charles C. Frost, James A. Mitchell

Patent number: 8019972Abstract: A digital signal processor uses a number of independent sub-processors that may be controlled by a master programmable controller. For example, a specialized input processor may process input signals while a specialized output processor may process output signals. Each of these processors may also accomplish math functions when input and output processing is not necessary. The various processors may communicate with one another through general purpose registers which receive data and provide data to any of the processors in the system. Math processors may be added as needed to accomplish desired mathematical functions. In addition, a RAM processor may be utilized to hold the results of intermediate calculations in one embodiment of the present invention. In this way, an adaptable and scaleable design may be implemented that accommodates a variety of different operations without requiring redesign of all the components.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2010Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: David K. Vavro, James A. Mitchell

Patent number: 6920655Abstract: A multi-purpose mat has open and folded configurations. The mat includes a base and a plurality of sidewalls disposed about a periphery of the base. A first resilient flexible slat is disposed within one of the sidewalls and a second resilient flexible slat is disposed within the remaining sidewalls. The slats provide means for reinforcing the sidewalls and also provide a spring-like effect that allows the mat to automatically rollout into the open configuration from the folded configuration. The sidewalls fold about the periphery of the base; the sidewalls moving from a position generally adjacent to the base to a position generally perpendicular to and extending generally upwardly from the base when the mat is moved from the folded configuration to the open configuration.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2003Date of Patent: July 26, 2005Inventor: James A. Mitchell

Patent number: 6444982Abstract: A system is provided for imaging, in an ESE microscope or other variable pressure microscope, a single sample at various time intervals during dissolution of the sample in a liquid. The system includes a sample chamber having a sample well. The sample well includes an first fluid port and a second fluid port for forming a dissolution bath in the sample well. In accordance with the system according to the present invention, the sample chamber is placed into the specimen chamber of the ESE microscope and a sample is deposited into the sample well of the sample chamber. The sample is immersed in a liquid which flows through the sample well via the first and second fluid ports during a dissolution cycle. The liquid is then drained from the sample well via one of the first and second fluid ports during a draining cycle, and then, during an imaging cycle, the sample is imaged by the ESE microscope.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignee: Euro-Celtique, S.A.Inventors: James A. Patent number: 4841476Abstract: In a system which emulates execution of source CPU instructions and includes a translating unit (translator) for converting source instructions to target instructions and a target CPU instruction unit for processing and issuing translated target instructions, provision is made for accelerating instruction, translation, issue, and execution when certain source floating point arithmetic instructions are emulated for execution. When a source floating point arithmetic instruction is emulated, a token is placed in a wait queue in the translator to prevent the translation of any source instructions and issue of any target instructions until condition and interrupt information is available and validated. In addition, emulation of source RX-type floating point instructions is enhanced by provision of registers in the instruction unit which receive X-field denoted operands, and which thereby permit a target CPU execution unit to perform the emulation by conducting register-to-register operations.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1986Date of Patent: June 20, 1989Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: James A.
