Abstract: The disclosure relates to a locking mechanism for cases, a large portion of which is contained for operation within a recess located in the lower portion of the case. The locking mechanism includes a latch member for engaging a keeper on the upper portion of the case. A lever length arrangement cooperates with a sliding plate to actuate the latch between locked and unlocked disposition. A spring is secured to the hinge between the latch and the sliding plate to bias the latch toward an unlocked position such that when the lever is moved to an unlocked position the latch will automatically disengage the keeper.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system of storage components which can be converted to a desk. A storage member of orthogonal configuration has a top portion releasably secured to a bottom portion. Separable fastener enable the top portion to be removed and reattached to the bottom portion to form a desk. Additional support is provided to support the portion of the desk distal to the interface of the top and bottom portion where attached by the separable fastener. The fastener is integrated with the various portions of the storage components to provide a relatively unobtrusive surface for the desk when erected and for transport as well.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system for stacking cases in a nesting relationship. A number of cases, each substantially identical to the other are configured to permit stacking in a nested relationship in a number of directions. Each such case includes corner brackets with recesses and protrusions which interact with complementary brackets on adjacent cases. Corner brackets in cooperation with other edge brackets also permit stacking in a nested relationship when the covers for these cases are removed and the orientation of the cases is shifted. A latching means is also provided to secure the cover in place without adversely affecting the latching mechanism.
