  • Publication number: 20090163635
Abstract: Aqueous dispersions of water-insoluble polyolefin-based adhesion promoters are formed by dissolving the adhesion promoter in at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer, forming a mini-emulsion with high shear in the presence of water, surfactant and other additives, and then polymerizing the monomer with a monomer-soluble, substantially water insoluble radical initiator. The polymerized product, a stable dispersion (latex) of polyolefin adhesion promoter and polymerized monomer in water, is useful as a primer or as an additive for improving the adhesion of coatings to polyolefin substrates.
