    Abstract: The invention provides a process for producing polyurethane foams or hydrogels, in which compositions including A) isocyanate-functional prepolymers obtainable by the reaction of A1) low molecular weight diisocyanates of molar mass from 140 to 278 g/mol, with A2) polyalkylene oxides having an OH functionality of two or more, A3) more than 1% by weight of C2 to C12 diols based on total amount of isocyanate-reactive components wherein component A3) differs from component A2), B) water or a nonaqueous isocyanate-reactive component in an amount of at least 2% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition are provided, optionally foamed and cured wherein the isocyanate containing components do not exceed a residual diisocyanate content of 8% by weight, based on the total amount of the polyurethane foam or hydrogel. These foams or hydrogels are used in wound dressings, cosmetic articles or incontinence products.

Polyisocyanurates made according to the inventive process lengthen the pot life of pultrusion composite formulations made therefrom without affecting the reactivity of the formulations.

The inventive process involves at least partially filling a cavity in the infrastructure or earth with a low-exotherm polyurethane foam, grout or elastomer made from at least one polyisocyanate, at least one isocyanate-reactive compound and an organic particulate material capable of absorbing heat, optionally in the presence of one or more chosen from water, surfactants, pigments, catalysts, alkali silicates and fillers and curing the polyurethane foam, grout or elastomer. The inventive processes may improve the repair of buildings, foundations, roads, bridges, highways, sidewalks, tunnels, manholes, sewers, sewage treatment systems, water treatment systems, reservoirs, canals, irrigation ditches, etc.
