  • Publication number: 20240349583
Abstract: Shadow masks comprising a multi-layer membrane having a mechanical pre-bias that compensates the effect of gravity on the membrane are disclosed. A shadow mask in accordance with the present disclosure includes a membrane that is patterned with a desired pattern of apertures. The layers of the membrane are selected such that their residual stresses collectively give rise to a stress gradient that is directed normal to the plane of the membrane such that the stress gradient mitigates gravity-induced sag. In some embodiments, the membrane includes a layer pair having internal stresses that are of opposite signs to effect a tendency to bulge outward from the plane of the membrane prior to its release from the substrate. An exemplary membrane includes a layer pair comprising a layer of stoichiometric silicon dioxide that is under residual compressive stress and a layer of stoichiometric silicon nitride that is under residual tensile stress.

  • Patent number: 11900144
Abstract: A controller of a quantum system identifies a phase update trigger for a quantum object of the quantum system and an interaction time. Responsive to identifying the phase update trigger, the controller determines, for between a first time and the interaction time, (a) a location/transport effect on a phase of the quantum object based on locations thereof and transport operations performed thereon, and (b) a quantum operation effect on the phase of the quantum object based on any quantum operations applied thereto. The immediately previous phase update for the quantum object occurred at the first time. Based on the location/transport effect, the quantum operation effect, and the interaction time, the controller determines an interaction time phase of the quantum object. The controller adjusts operation of a manipulation source such that a phase of a signal generated by the manipulation source corresponds to the interaction time phase at the interaction time.

  • Patent number: 9631353
Abstract: A brace for a wall-mounted toilet, particularly useful for wall-mounted porcelain toilets in hospitals and other health care facilities. The brace includes a weight receiving structure supported by cantilevered struts that attach the brace to the wall, preferably using the same bolts that attach the toilet to the wall. The weight receiving structure may be a seat portion that overlies the rim of the toilet bowl, so that the weight of the user is transmitted from the toilet seat to the seat structure and then to the walls through the struts. Alternately, the weight receiving structure may include an under-bowl support that extends underneath the toilet bowl so that the user's weight is transmitted from the bowl to the wall through the struts. Thus, the cantilevered brace increases the weight-bearing capacity of the wall-mounted toilet. A plastic shroud may be included for enclosing the brace and toilet bowl.

  • Patent number: 9328717
Abstract: A fluid flow rotary driven apparatus includes a support having an axis of rotation and a plurality of elongate, curved rotor wings attached to and extending outwardly from the support. Each wing is attached to the support at an inner end and projects outwardly in a direction transverse to the axis of rotation to a distal end. Each wing includes a convex surface defining a plurality of logarithmic spiral line segments interconnecting the inner and outer ends. Each spiral line segment extends completely within a respective plane transverse to the axis of rotation. The wings are responsive to a fluid flow across the outer surface of the wings for driving the support to turn about the axis of rotation. A rotary transmission device is operably connected to the support and responds to turning of the support for producing an energy output.

  • Publication number: 20140019227
Abstract: A user carries a wireless telecommunications terminal, such as a cell phone, smart phone, tablet, and the like. The wireless telecommunications terminal—alone or in conjunction with the wireless telecommunications infrastructure—records the movement of the user. In other words, the wireless terminal records when and where the user has been. This information is uploaded to a database in well-known fashion. The database contains similar information for many other users. In some embodiments, of the present invention, the wireless terminal is assigned an anonymous user ID that can be reconciled with a specific user if that user then calls in using the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 8201339
Abstract: An exterior surface has a vertical mid-plane and a horizontal aperture there through. An annular recess is provided at the vertical mid-plane. The exterior surface has planar end faces parallel with each other. The horizontal aperture has opposed frusto-conical surfaces with a central axis. The frusto-conical surfaces have interior edges at the vertical mid-plane and exterior edges at the planar end faces. The exterior edges are larger than the interior edges. Coupling grooves extend to opposite sides of the recess. The coupling grooves have a generally semi-circular configuration. The grooves are parallel with each other at an angle with respect to the central axis. The grooves have midpoints spanning the central axis. The coupling grooves are adapted to receive separated strands of draw string.

  • Patent number: 7950189
Abstract: A modular in-wall medical services unit for medical care facilities. A frame supports a cabinet with a cover panel providing electrical and/or gas outlets. Built-in electrical and gas conduits are included. A junction box and ends of the gas conduits near the top of the frame are accessible after wallboard is applied. Thus, wallboard can be installed before or after wiring is completed and gas connections are made. The self-aligning cover panel is “floatingly” supported on the frame so that a bead of sealant can be applied around the edge before the cover panel is “snugged up” to the wall and secured. The trim flanges on the cover panel include vertical equipment mounting tracks. Manufacturing is simplified by making the height of the frame adjustable; the same frame elements can be used to assemble units for different ceiling heights, decreasing the number of required parts in inventory and expediting assembly.
