Abstract: Briefly, an intelligent label is associated with a good, and includes one or more permanent and irreversible electrochromic indicators that are used to report the condition of that good at selected points in the movement or usage of that good. These electrochromic indicators provide immediate visual information regarding the status of the good without need to interrogate or communicate with the electronics or processor on the intelligent label. In this way, anyone in the shipping or use chain for the good, including the end user consumer, can quickly understand whether the product is meeting shipping and quality standards. If a product fails to meet shipping or quality standards, the particular point where the product failed can be quickly and easily identified, and information can be used to assure the consumer remains safe, while providing essential information for improving the shipping process.

The adaptor is configured to support a food preparation accessory. The weight sensor is configured to detect a weight applied to the adaptor. Abstract: In a distributed computing environment that includes hosts that execute a VMM, where each VMM supports execution of one or more VMs, administering VMs may include: assigning, by a VMM manager, the VMMs of the distributed computing environment to a logical tree topology, including assigning one of the VMMs as a root VMM of the tree topology; and executing, amongst the VMMs of the tree topology, a broadcast operation, including: pausing, by the root VMM, execution of one or more VMs supported by the root VMM; sending, by the root VMM, to other VMMs in the tree topology, a message indicating a pending transfer of the paused VMs; and transferring the paused VMs from the root VMM to the other VMMs.

Abstract: RAW images and/or light field images may be compressed through the use of specialized techniques. The color depth of a light field image may be reduced through the use of a bit reduction algorithm such as a K-means algorithm. The image may then be retiled to group pixels of similar intensities and/or colors. The retiled image may be padded with extra pixel rows and/or pixel columns as needed, and compressed through the use of an image compression algorithm. The compressed image may be assembled with metadata pertinent to the manner in which compression was done to form a compressed image file. The compressed image file may be decompressed by following the compression method in reverse.

Abstract: The present invention provides a compound of formula I; wherein R1 is an alkyl pyrazole or an alkyl carboxamide, and R2 is a hydroxycycloalkyl; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and compositions containing these compounds, for use to treat a brain tumor, particularly glioblastoma. The invention provides effective treatment of a brain tumor and can be used by oral administration of a compound of Formula I as further described herein. The invention also provides a method to treat a subject having a brain tumor such as glioblastoma, wherein the method comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of Formula I. Gene signatures correlated with successful treatment using these methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for selectively and dynamically determining one or more words of an electronic book to present with comprehension guides. For instance, an electronic device rendering an electronic book may determine whether to display some, all, or no words of the book with comprehension guides for words within the electronic book based on word difficulty, contextual importance or aspects of the user. Techniques are also provided for determining the content of comprehension guides to be presented with the words.

Abstract: Devices and methods for detecting microbial contaminants, such as bacteria and fungi, in fluids such as drinking water, pharmaceutical solutions and tissue culture media are provided. More particularly, provided are filtration devices for capture and processing of microorganisms from fluids, and improved methods for recovery, lysis and detection of microorganisms based on a combination of physical disruption with small beads and lysis solutions.

Abstract: Techniques for ensuring that media playback proceeds sequentially through media content of a digital media asset are disclosed. In one embodiment, distinct portions (e.g., segments) of a digital media asset can be separately encrypted such that on playback decoded data being output from at least one prior portion can be used to derive a cryptographic key that is used in decrypting a subsequent portion of the digital media asset.

Abstract: An adjustable shimable shear tip for a distal end tang of a heavy duty demolition shear having a upper movable shear jaw with a shear side and a guide side pivotally connected to a lower shear jaw with a shear blade side, a guide side, a distal tie plate and a recess therebetween. The tang has side faces with apertures therethrough, a top seat, a rear seat and a bottom seat. The adjustable shimable shear tip has a two-sided shear tip section with a sidewall and a bottom wall that is adapted to be seated on one of the side tang faces, the top seat, the rear seat and the bottom seat. The bottom wall is formed with the sidewall that is adapted to be seated on the tang bottom seat with a leading shear punching edge. A side plate is adapted to be seated on the other tang side face, the top seat, the rear seat and the sidewall. The side plate has apertures therethrough alignable with the sidewall apertures and the tang apertures to secure the sidewall, lower wall and side plate to the tang.

Abstract: A computer detects an entry of content by a first user in a collaboration application and determines the entry of content contains an identification of a second user, the identification indicating the entry of content and the identification are to be visible only to the first user and the second user. Responsive to determining the entry of content contains the identification of a second user, the computer copies the entry of content. The computer then sends the copied entry of content to the second user in the collaboration application.

Abstract: An airbag module for a vehicle includes an inflator disposed behind an instrument panel and an airbag arrangement. The airbag arrangement includes a cushion section configured to receive an occupant during impact and a balloon section disposed proximate a base of the cushion section and adjacent the instrument panel such that, upon inflation, the balloon section contacts and pushes against the instrument panel. This forms a swell on the cushion section adjacent to the balloon section configured to hinder movement of the occupant toward the balloon section.

Abstract: A gas gun launcher has a pump tube and a launch tube with a first end of the launch tube slidably inserted into a second end of the pump tube. The pump tube may hold a heat exchanger to heat a light gas used to launch a vehicle. A sliding seal can be employed to manage recoil and to retain the gas within the launch tube and the pump tube. A fast-closing muffler at the second end of the launch tube can conserve the light gas utilized for launching a vehicle, enabling the light gas to be recycled. A launch tube alignment system is preferably automatic, ensuring the survival of the launch vehicle.

Abstract: Methods, computer-readable media, and computing devices are described herein for restoring gameplay by replaying past inputs. During gameplay, capture logic captures participant inputs that were received to change states of game objects. The capture logic stores the captured information in an electronic record of period(s) of the gameplay. After the period(s) of gameplay, replay logic receives a request to initiate subsequent gameplay beginning from a point in time from a period of past gameplay. The replay logic causes the subsequent gameplay to begin from the point at least in part by loading saved state information and replaying the captured participant inputs.

The ribbon or stack has a bend preference, but the strength members are flexible and do not have a bend preference. Furthermore, the jacket is structured such that the jacket does not have a bend preference. The cavity is sized relative to the ribbon or stack in order to allow the same to bend and twist within the cavity with respect to the jacket as the cable bends, facilitating movement of the corresponding optical fibers to low-stress positions within the cavity and decoupling the bend preference of the ribbon or stack from transfer to the jacket.
