  • Patent number: 7523931
Abstract: A system and method for accumulation of media invention includes a series of upper and lower transport belts for feeding media seriatim along a path of travel. An accumulator pocket is positioned between the upper and lower drive belts along the path of travel. An upper and a lower accumulator ramp is positioned adjacent the accumulator pocket are moveable between a first position and a second position. The first accumulator ramp position is such that the lower ramp is positioned to engage media moved seriatim along the path of travel to guide the media to form a forward accumulation of media in the accumulator pocket. The upper accumulator ramp second position is such that the upper accumulator ramp is positioned to engage media moved seriatim along the path of travel to guide the media to form a reverse accumulation of media in the accumulator pocket.

  • Patent number: 7526250
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems and methods for transmitting and receiving modulated impulse radio signals. An impulse radio receiver includes a time base, a precision timing generator, a template generator, a delay, first and second correlators, a data detector and a time base adjustor. The time base produces a periodic timing signal that is used by the precision timing generator to produce a timing trigger signal. The template generator uses the timing trigger signal to produce a template signal. A delay receives the template signal and outputs a delayed template signal. When an impulse radio signal is received, the first correlator correlates the received impulse radio signal with the template signal to produce a first correlator output signal, and the second correlator correlates the received impulse radio signal with the delayed template signal to produce a second correlator output signal. The data detector produces a data signal based on at least the first correlator output signal.

  • Patent number: 7523722
Abstract: A safe, reliable system for automatically dosing diesel truck fuel tanks with a fuel additive is provided. The additive, such as a concentrated solution containing fuel borne catalyst (FBC), is fed by gravity and dosing is controlled with a signal from a switch located on the ignition switch and/or the fuel tank cap and filler spout. When the ignition switch is in the on position and/or the cap is removed, a solenoid opens a valve and permits a timed or otherwise measured amount of additive to flow into the tank while the cap is off. Replacing the cap and/or turning off the ignition switch preferably stops the flow of additive, the flow rate being set to supply a predetermined amount of additive during an average refueling interval.

  • Patent number: 7523890
Abstract: A method of severing an extraction line connected between an extraction parachute and a cargo load when the cargo load fails to eject from an aircraft. The method comprises the steps of spacing a cutter from the extraction line; spring-biasing the cutter in the direction of the extraction line; mechanically restricting the cutter with restricting means from engaging and severing the extraction line; and disabling the restricting means in response to a radio signal from a transmitter on the aircraft so that the cutter is released and severs the extraction line.

  • Patent number: 7526741
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to microfluidics and more particularly to the design of customized microfluidic systems using a microfluidic computer aided design system. In one embodiment of the present invention a microfluidic circuit design method is provided. The method includes developing synthesizable computer code for a design. Next, a microfluidic circuit schematic, including a plurality of symbols for microfluidic components, is generated either interactively or using the synthesizable computer code. The microfluidic circuit schematic is then functionally simulated. The microfluidic components are placed and routed on a template to form a physical layout. Then the physical layout is physically simulated using dynamic simulation models of the microfluidic components; and the physical layout is written to a layout file.

  • Publication number: 20090104907
Abstract: A method for selecting an alternate wireless communication system for a wireless communication device is disclosed. The method comprises using a first radio access technology (RAT) by a wireless communication device when scanning (202) for an initial wireless communication network (201). The wireless communication device further registers (215) to the initial wireless communication network (201). Then, the initial wireless communication network (201) determines (206) alternate RAT wireless communication network information for the wireless communication device and sends (235) the alternate RAT wireless communication network information to the wireless communication device.

  • Publication number: 20090103531
Abstract: A system for progressively synchronizing stored copies of indexed media transmitted between nodes on a network. The system includes a transmitter at the sending node configured to progressively transmit available indexed media to a receiving node with a packet size and packetization interval sufficient to enable the near real-time rendering of the indexed media, wherein the near real-time rendering of the indexed media provides a recipient with an experience of reviewing the transmitted media live. The system also includes a receiver at the receiving node that progressively receives the transmitted indexed media and continually notes any indexed media that is not already locally stored at the receiving node. The receiver also continually generates and transmits to the sending node requests as needed for the noted indexed media. In response, the transmitter at the sending node transmits the noted indexed media to the receiving node.
