  • Publication number: 20080170281
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed to align the write channel portion of a holographic data storage system. The method establishes a write threshold correlation factor, provides a reference beam, and illuminates a holographic data storage medium encoded with a write reference orientation image with the reference beam to generate a write channel alignment data beam comprising a projected write reference orientation image. The method projects the write channel alignment data beam onto an optical detector, and calculates a first write correlation factor using the projected write reference orientation image, a stored write reference orientation image, and the tangential matched filter. If the method determines that the first write correlation factor is greater than or equal to the write threshold correlation factor, then the method determines that the spatial write channel is properly aligned.

  • Publication number: 20080172473
Abstract: The present invention is a system for ensuring client access to paired and unpaired response messages. In the system, the server detects one or more unpaired message which are stored in a data structure on the server. The data structure may be created when the server is started or automatically when the first unpaired message is identified. The system then uses a communications protocol between the client and server which allows the client to request one or more of the stored unpaired messages. The system of the present invention uses a request module configured to receive a client request and prepare the client request for a response generator. The response generator receives the client request from the request module and generates an appropriate response. Next, an unpaired message module analyzes the response message generated by the response generator and distinguishes a paired message from an unpaired message.

  • Publication number: 20080169647
Abstract: A pipe coupling assembly includes two identical pipes each extending into an enlarged collar and then into a hemispherical socket each with a socket radius. A bulbous insert engages the sockets of the pipes. A clamping mechanism is disposed about the pipes and includes two blocks for holding the sockets into engagement with the insert. The insert has two necks both extending axially around the flow passage and fitting into the pipes. The insert defines a slot extending radially and circumferentially about the axis for allowing movement of two hemispheres relative to one another. Each of the hemispheres has an insert radius. The socket radii are greater than the respective insert radii for establishing a contact line between the insert and the sockets which becomes a contact band as the blocks move together.

  • Publication number: 20080172310
Abstract: The method, system and computer program product for verifying financial data provides tracking and reporting of the reconciliation and approval process by providing a hierarchical list of users responsible for verification of at least a portion of the financial data and automatically notifying the users responsible for the reconciliation and approval, based upon the hierarchical list, of their duties regarding the account. If the certifier and approver do not certify and/or approve the financial data within a specified timeframe, their supervisors, based upon the hierarchical list, will be automatically notified. In addition, any certification and approval of the financial data is recorded, which permits instantaneous reporting regarding the status of the certification and approval process. Moreover, outstanding issues associated with the financial data may be recorded and tracked, and the appropriate user(s) may be notified of the issue if it is without resolution after a specified timeframe.

  • Publication number: 20080168979
Abstract: A compact, openable and closeable barbeque smoker box receives and encloses woodchips and is easily disposed within a barbeque and emits smoke from the woodchips while grilling food. The smoker box includes an open bottom pan and a openable and closeable lid pan. The lid is pierced by at least one hole to vent smoke from the smoker box while grilling food. A magnet included in the smoker box facilitates securing the lid together with the bottom pan attached thereto beneath a grilling surface of a barbeque. Also disclosed is a sealable container specifically adapted for receiving the smoker box together with a quantity of woodchips beneath the smoker box. • Publication number: 20080169890
Abstract: A pin lock is movably mounted for linear movement along a longitudinal axis. A magnet, preferably a permanent magnet, is mounted for limited rotation between the pin extended and pin retracted positions. An electromagnet provides a controllable electromagnetic field which encompasses at least a portion of the permanent magnet. A ferromagnetic latch is located within the magnetic field of the mounted magnet in each of the pin extended and pin retracted positions. A mechanical interconnection between the pin lock and the permanent magnet for moving the pin lock when the permanent magnet is rotated wherein said movement extends or retracts the pin lock between its pin extended and pin retracted positions. Reversing the electromagnetic field of the electromagnet serves to rotate the magnet so that the pin lock moves from one to the other of said two positions.

  • Publication number: 20080168740
Abstract: An improved mud sill, for use with a generally horizontal baseplate of a base screw jack of a vertical scaffolding member, is taught that is easy to install and remove without tools and with a minimal amount of labor required. The improved mud sill attaches securely to the baseplate of a screw jack or scaffolding assembly without the use of extraneous fasteners, such as nails or screws. A multi-layered recess is provided in the improved mud sill to receive a baseplate axially and then the improved mud sill can be rotated relative to the baseplate to secure it in place. Once installed the improved mud sill of this important invention is restricted three dimensionally to the baseplate and yet it can easily be removed by a counter-rotation. No tools or fasteners are required.
