Abstract: A system for cleaning contaminants from a body of water includes a dam that restricts a flow of water in the body of water. The system also includes a generator that generates electric power from the body of water, and one or more electrodes that induce an electrocoagulation current upstream of the dam. A filter press then removes contaminants that are precipitated from the water of the body of water by the electrocoagulation current.

Abstract: A load holding system for use with a load bearing surface and for use with a tether includes at least one anchoring device adapted to releasably engage with the tether and at least one channel in or on the loading bearing surface. The channel has an opening, and the channel and the anchoring device are adapted to releasably engage with each other. When the anchoring device is subject to a holding force in a given direction, one or more engagement surfaces of the anchoring device frictionally engage with a respective one or more engagement surfaces of the channel such that the anchoring device is held in place at a selected position along the channel. When the anchoring device is not subject to the holding force, the anchoring device is slidable along the channel.

  • Publication number: 20180148971
Abstract: A barrier operator feature enhancement device is designed to provide one or more features found in modern barrier operator devices and to incorporate those features into a previously installed barrier operator system. To facilitate ease of use, the barrier operator feature enhancement device can communicate with a large variety of barrier operators. Such communication may be wireless or wired, depending on the communication protocol implemented by a particular previously installed barrier operator. To facilitate the ease of installation, the device is designed to configure itself to operate with the communication protocol of the previously installed barrier operator. Once configured to be able to communicate with the previously installed barrier operator, the feature enhancement device works with the barrier operator to provide one or more additional features to enhance the capabilities of the previously installed barrier operator.

Abstract: In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a method for data type management may include adding a first data to a first data set. The first data set may belong to a plurality of data sets stored in a memory and each data set in the plurality may correspond to a type table defining data types in the corresponding data set. The method may further include determining that a first data type of the first data is not in a first type table corresponding to the first data set and generating an identifier corresponding to the first data type. The identifier may identify uses of the first data type within each data set in the plurality and may be a standardized value that is used by each data set in the plurality. The method may also include inserting the identifier into the first type table.

  • Publication number: 20180150325
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for implementing a coordinator within a coordinated environment, which environment includes set of coordinated devices managed by the coordinator. The coordinator can be provisioned with a set of tasks, each task corresponding to a segment of code that can be executed by the coordinator, such as to manage the coordinated devices. To assist in execution of the tasks, the coordinator can include a resource manager that generates execution environments corresponding to an individual task execution, which environments may be isolated from other execution environments. The coordinator can further include a scheduler to obtain calls to execute tasks, and implement a queue from which to select tasks for execution. On selecting a task, the scheduler may interact with the resource manager to generate an execution environment for the task, and cause execution of the task within the execution environment.

  • Publication number: 20180150719
Abstract: Shape features in natural images influence emotions aroused in human beings. An in-depth statistical analysis helps to understand the relationship between shapes and emotions. Through experimental results on the International Affective Picture System (IAPS) dataset, evidence is presented as to the significance of roundness-angularity and simplicity-complexity on predicting emotional content in images. Shape features are combined with other state-of-the-art features to show a gain in prediction and classification accuracy. Emotions are modeled from a dimensional perspective in order to predict valence and arousal ratings, which have advantages over modeling the traditional discrete emotional categories. Images are distinguished vis-a-vis strong emotional content from emotionally neutral images with high accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20180150300
Abstract: A processor core having multiple parallel instruction execution slices and coupled to multiple dispatch queues by a dispatch routing network provides flexible and efficient use of internal resources. The configuration of the execution slices is selectable so that capabilities of the processor core can be adjusted according to execution requirements for the instruction streams. Two or more execution slices can be combined as super-slices to handle wider data, wider operands and/or vector operations, according to one or more mode control signal that also serves as a configuration control signal. The mode control signal is also used to partition clusters of the execution slices within the processor core according to whether single-threaded or multi-threaded operation is selected, and additionally according to a number of hardware threads that are active.

  • Publication number: 20180147751
Abstract: The present invention relates firstly to a method for reproducing a stem cell niche of an organism. The invention further relates to a reproduction of a stem cell niche of an organism. According to the invention, an image of a tissue of an organism is generated, which tissue comprises at least one stem cell niche. The image is filtered in order to obtain a structural pattern of the imaged stem cell niche. In a further step, a lithographic mask is generated from the structural pattern. According to the invention, a starting material of a substrate is structured by means of indirect or direct application of the lithographic mask, whereby a structured substrate is obtained which represents the reproduction of the imaged stem cell niche of the organism. The reproduction can be characterised as biolithomorphic.
