  • Publication number: 20160244044
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine; a fraction battery; and a controller or a battery control system having a controller. The controller is programed to respond to a predicted duration of charge sustaining operation for a drive cycle and a speed of the vehicle. When the predicted duration is greater than a predetermined duration and the speed is less than a speed threshold, the controller increases a state of charge threshold of the traction battery associated with triggering shut offs of the engine to reduce cycling of the engine during the drive cycle.

  • Publication number: 20160244322
Abstract: A sensor device is constructed to maintain a high glass strength to avoid the glass failure at low burst pressure, resulting from the sawing defects located in the critical high stress area of the glass pedestal as one of the materials used for construction of the sensor. This is achieved by forming polished recess structures in the critical high stress areas of the sawing street area. The sensor device is also constructed to have a robust bonding with the die attach material by creating a plurality of micro-posts on the mounting surface of the glass pedestal.

  • Publication number: 20160249071
Abstract: Improved methods for coding an ensemble of pulse vectors utilize statistical models (i.e., probability models) for the ensemble of pulse vectors, to more efficiently code each pulse vector of the ensemble. At least one pulse parameter describing the non-zero pulses of a given pulse vector is coded using the statistical models and the number of non-zero pulse positions for the given pulse vector. In some embodiments, the number of non-zero pulse positions are coded using range coding. The total number of unit magnitude pulses may be coded using conditional (state driven) bitwise arithmetic coding. The non-zero pulse position locations may be coded using adaptive arithmetic coding. The non-zero pulse position magnitudes may be coded using probability-based combinatorial coding, and the corresponding sign information may be coded using bitwise arithmetic coding. Such methods are well suited to coding non-independent-identically-distributed signals, such as coding video information.

  • Publication number: 20160243230
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and compositions for targeting antibodies to amyloid deposits. For example, amyloid-reactive peptides that bind amyloid deposits are administered to a subject. Antibodies to the amyloid-reactive peptides are then administered to the subject. Upon administration of the antibodies, the amyloid-reactive peptides bind the antibodies and thus pre-target the antibodies to the amyloid deposits. In other examples, an amyloid-reactive fusion peptide contains an epitope of a known antibody. When the fusion peptide is administered to a subject, the fusion peptide binds amyloids in the subject. Administration to the subject of the known antibody that binds the epitope of the fusion peptide then targets the antibody to the amyloid deposit to which the fusion peptide is bound.

  • Publication number: 20160247093
Abstract: Methods and systems for enforcing host standards in a reservation system. In one embodiment, a reservation system provides two methods of communication between a potential guest and a host, hard communications and soft communications. The reservation system associates both types of communication with threads, each thread associated with the host and an associated reservation. The reservation system determines suspension metrics for each host based on the communications of the threads they are associated with. When the suspension metrics associated with a host satisfy one or more suspension criteria, the reservation system issues a suspension to the host.

  • Publication number: 20160246747
Abstract: This application relates to methods and apparatus for transfer of data between a host device (400) and a peripheral device (300) via a USB Type-C connector (100; 304) of the host device. A data controller is described that has a path controller (309, 310; 706) for establishing signal paths between circuitry of the host device and contacts (101) of said USB Type-C connector. The path controller is operable in at least first and second modes. In the first mode the path controller establishes separate signal paths to each of at least first, second, third and fourth contacts (A6, A7, B6, B7) of the USB Type-C connector and a plurality of the established signal paths are for transfer of analogue audio data. In the second mode the path controller establishes a pair of signal paths to only a subset of said first to fourth contacts to provide a differential digital data path.

  • Publication number: 20160246987
Abstract: An information handling system (IHS) performs security policy enforcement using security policy data maintained in an embedded controller, which operates within a privileged environment. The security policy data identifies security policies established for the IHS. The EC is directly connected to a number of sensors from which the EC receives sensor data and to at least one integrated functional device. The EC determines whether the received sensor data fulfills any trigger condition of a security policy. If the received sensor data does not fulfill any trigger condition of a security policy described by the security policy data, the EC continues to monitor sensors for updated sensor data. However, if the received sensor data fulfills any trigger condition of the security policy, the EC performs a security measure that involves enabling, disabling, or resetting one or more of the at least one integrated functional devices that can be disabled.
