Patent number: 10232740Abstract: A method of correcting a seatback recline angle is provided. The method includes a vehicle seat having a seat portion and a seatback portion, wherein the seatback portion is configured to recline to a plurality of reclined positions. The method further includes the steps of (a) measuring a recline angle of a seatback; (b) comparing the recline angle of the seatback to a predetermined recline angle threshold; (c) determining if the recline angle exceeds the recline angle threshold; (d) providing a warning to a seat occupant when the recline angle exceeds the recline angle threshold, wherein the warning is configured to prompt a corrective action from the seat occupant; and (e) moving the seatback to a corrected position when the corrective action from the seat occupant is not received after a predetermined period of time.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2018Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Dean M. Patent number: 8312782Abstract: A self-contained momentum control system (MCS) for a spacecraft is provided for small satellites. The MCS features a miniaturized gyroscopic rotor with a rotational speed in excess of 20,000 RPM. The MCS includes at least three control moment gyroscopic mechanical assemblies (CMAs) rigidly mounted within a single enclosure, where each CMA mounted in an orientation whereby the longitudinal axis of each CMA is either orthogonal to every other CMA or is parallel to another CMA but in the opposite orientation. In order to further reduce the size of the MCS, an electronics package that is configured to interface command and control signals with and to provide power to the CMAs is included within the MCS enclosure. A plurality of shock isolation devices are used to secure each of the CMAs to the enclosure in order to reduce the launch load upon the CMAs thereby allowing the use of smaller rotor spin bearings. The MCS enclosure surrounding the CMAs and support structure is hermetically sealed.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2009Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Brett McMickell, Paul Buchele, Gary Lynwood Gisler, James Andrus

Publication number: 20050070607Abstract: Life-threatening hepatotoxicity in the setting of acetaminophen overdose is due to depletion of glutathione (GSH), a vital cysteine-containing tripeptide that protects cells and organs against oxidant injury. Rapid administration of N-acetylcysteine (NAC), which provides the cysteine necessary to replenish the depleted GSH, is the standard of care for preventing injury in acetaminophen overdose. Beneficial effects of NAC treatment have also been demonstrated in respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine and infectious and other diseases. In fact, over fifty randomized placebo-controlled trials conducted in diverse clinical settings document positive responses to NAC treatment.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2004Publication date: March 31, 2005Inventors: James Andrus, Leonard Herzenberg, Leonore Herzenberg, David Aiello, John Mantovani
