  • Publication number: 20070265609
Abstract: A cardiac ablation method including the following steps: inserting a treatment catheter into an atrium of a heart, the treatment catheter including an ultrasound emitter; positioning the ultrasound emitter to face heart tissue within the left atrium outside of a pulmonary vein; emitting ultrasound energy from the ultrasound emitter while rotating the ultrasound emitter about a rotation axis; and ablating heart tissue with the ultrasound energy to form a lesion outside of a pulmonary vein.

  • Publication number: 20070265610
Abstract: A cardiac ablation system including an ablation catheter having an anchor adapted to support the ablation catheter within an atrium of a heart and an ultrasound emitter disposed radially outward from a rotation axis and from the anchor, and a control mechanism adapted to rotate the ultrasound emitter about the rotation axis and to provide ablation energy to the ultrasound emitter to ablate heart tissue.

  • Publication number: 20070016025
Abstract: A physical 3D volume object is manipulated to navigate through a volume image. The orientation of the volume object, such as a cube or other shaped device, is sensed. As the volume object is rotated, the viewing direction associated with three dimensional rendering rotates. The volume object may represent a viewer's eye or the object for determining the viewing direction from the volume object orientation. The volume object may be untethered and/or generally flat, allowing ease of use. The volume object may be associated with a shape of an organ or tissue to provide further frame of reference.

  • Patent number: 5882306
Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system generates a legend on a display device. This legend includes at least two axes and an array of display indicia, and the indicia are responsive to a mapping function used to generate a displayed ultrasonic image as a modulated, non-linear, multi-bit function of at least first and second image signals. At least one of the axes of the legend varies as a function of a B-mode value range. Preferably, one axis of the legend varies as a function of a fundamental image signal, and the other axis varies as a function of a harmonic image signal. The imaging system can be controlled such that a B-mode processor automatically alternates between a fundamental mode of operation and a harmonic mode of operation on a line-by-line, group-of-lines by group-of-lines, or frame-by-frame basis.
