  • Patent number: 8103760
Abstract: Systems and methods simplify the provision of complex services over a distributed network by breaking a complex service into a collection of simpler services. Systems and methods provide the tools to deconstruct a complex, provision service elements that are needed to make up the complex service, and monitor the service elements to ensure that the complex service is supported. Quality of service is provided by matching service requirements to compute resource capabilities.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2005
Date of Patent: January 24, 2012
    Assignee: Oracle America, Inc.
Inventors: Dennis G. Reedy, James B. Clarke
  • Patent number: 7792874
Abstract: Systems and methods provide identification services over a distributed network. Systems and methods provide the tools to receive data from reader devices, process the received data, and provide the processed data to users. Enhanced event handling and dynamic service provisioning enable robust and flexible deployment of identification services in a distributed network.

  • Patent number: 7726567
Abstract: An embedded device includes a web interface configured to receive a request for an electronic product information (EPID) report, and send the request to a request handling service. The embedded device further includes the request handling service, configured to deploy one or more event handling components based on the request. The embedded device further includes the one or more event handling components configured to generate an EPID event cycle based on an EPID read cycle, according to an event cycle boundary condition, generate the EPID report based on the EPID event cycle, and transmit the EPID report to a client. The embedded device further includes a reader adapter configured to obtain the EPID read cycle, and transmit the EPID read cycle to the one or more event handling components.

  • Publication number: 20030051030
Abstract: Systems and methods collect metrics and make them available on a distributed system. Any type of metrics, such as quantities, elapsed time, and temperature, may be collected. The collected metrics are stored in distributed repositories running anywhere on the network. These repositories can be made available over the distributed system using the Jini™ lookup service or other lookup services.

  • Patent number: 5139109
Abstract: A device for supporting the lower ends of ladder stiles on unlevel ground comprises a flat flexible mat (7) having at one end a ramp portion (1). In use, one stile rests on the flat mat and the other rests, at an appropriate height on the ramp portion, which faces the wall against which the ladder leans.

  • Patent number: 5123503
Abstract: A roller device (7) for equipment such as a ladder (5) has a rigid core (14) with an axle (17), and a surrounding more compressible rubber portion (8,9) circumferentially spaced portions of which are more readily compressible than adjacent portions so that the device will roll easily when not under load, but less easily when under load.

  • Patent number: 4699247
Abstract: A device for supporting simultaneously the bottom ends of both stiles of a ladder from sloping ground, so that the rungs of the ladder are horizontal, comprises a reversible triangular platform, which is supported from the ground by three feet, one of which spaces the respective corner of the platform at a greater height above the ground than the other two feet.

  • Patent number: 4615412
Abstract: A ladder rest comprises interconnected yokes (12,13) which extend across the front or climbing side of an upper ladder section (8) and are mounted on rungs (18) of that ladder section by hooks (17). The yokes extend around the stiles (11) of the ladder and carry abutments (22) which engage a wall (24). The yokes are clear of the stiles of the ladder and of any guide furniture (10) on the lower ladder section, so as not to interfere with complete retraction of the ladder. The abutment portion (22) is below the level of the lower hook (17) at which load is applied from the ladder to the device to provide an advantageous geometry when the ladder is loaded and bows towards the wall.
