Patent number: 6453900Abstract: An inhaler for releasing an aerosol from a container having a lip and an outlet normally sealed by a stem movable relative to the lip. The inhaler has an elongate body comprising a chamber having a first end and a second end, the chamber forming an opening at the first end of the chamber. The elongate body further comprises a stem block with a socket adapted to receive the stem of the container, a dispensing nozzle and a flow restrictive valve. The dispensing nozzle is adjacent to the stem block for providing communication between the socket and the chamber and is adapted to direct a discharge of the aerosol from the container stem into the chamber. The flow restrictive valve is in open communication with the chamber and responsive to a change in fluid pressure. The inhaler also has an actuator pivotably attached to the elongate body. The actuator has an opening adapted to receive the lip of the container and a detent for forming a removable connection between the lip and the actuator.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2000Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: Pulmonary Services, Inc.Inventors: William M. Barnes, Jr., Dennis Little, David D. McClanahan, James B. Eldon, III

Patent number: 6450333Abstract: A carrying case has an elongated housing having a central and two end housing structures in overlapping, telescoping relationship so that the length of the carrying case can be adjusted. Hinges are connected to each housing with the hinge axes aligned so that the housings can be jointly rotated between open and closed positions without twisting the housing structures. Hinge alignment is possible by making the leaves of some hinges radially longer than the leaves of other hinges. Interengaging, load-bearing bosses are provided on the housing structures for adjustability to the length of the carrying case while providing strong connections, making it possible to use light weight material. Ribs and buttresses are molded as unitary parts of the central element and have an interengaging feature for reinforcement.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2001Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Detwiler Industries IncorporatedInventors: David D. Patent number: 6397532Abstract: A freestanding portable partition panel system is provided for open office spaces and the like. Each panel includes a skeleton-like frame having two vertical uprights positioned adjacent opposite side edges thereof, and at least two pairs of horizontal stringers attached to the outer faces of the uprights in a vertically spaced-apart relationship to rigidly interconnect the same. One or more horizontal rows of slots are defined in each of the stringers. Cover panels are detachably mounted thereon to provide ready access to the frame. The cover panels permit access to the slots, and special off-module connectors with hooks for engaging the slots are provided for interconnecting adjacent panels in off-module positions. The hooks of the connectors are engaged with selected slots to hold a first partition panel perpendicular to a second partition panel in an off-module position on its face.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2000Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Steelcase Development CorporationInventors: David A. Patent number: 5950386Abstract: A wall construction for subdividing building space includes a pair of interconnected frames forming a rectangular arrangement, the interconnected frames having abutting vertical side edges and non-abutting vertical side edges, and a removable cover for covering a portion of the interconnected frames, the cover including cover vertical side edges, the cover being removably supported on the interconnected frames. In one form, the cover spans the abutting vertical side edges of the interconnected frames with at least one of the cover vertical side edges being located between the non-abutting vertical side edges. In another form, the cover vertical side edges are both located between the non-abutting vertical side edges of the interconnected frames, and further both are misaligned with the abutting vertical side edges.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1998Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Assignee: Steelcase Inc.Inventors: David A. Patent number: 5899036Abstract: A freestanding portable partition assembly and related system are provided for open office spaces and the like. Each partition system includes a floor channel having an aperture defined therein; a partition frame having a downwardly projecting leg assembly received in said aperture; and a locking plate slidably engaging the floor channel and having a slot receiving a portion of the downwardly projecting leg assembly therein for releasably coupling the partition frame to the floor channel. With this construction, the partition frames may be quickly and easily connected to the floor channels, and the entire assembly may be shipped with the floor channel attached without fear of damage. Moreover, the resulting assembly resists damage from catastrophic events, such as earthquakes.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1996Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignee: Steelcase Inc.Inventors: Charles A. Patent number: 5746035Abstract: A freestanding portable partition panel and related system are provided for open office spaces and the like. Each panel includes a skeleton-like frame having two vertical uprights positioned adjacent opposite side edges thereof. A foot extends downwardly from the bottom of the frame to abuttingly support the panel freestanding on a floor surface. Two pairs of horizontal stringers are attached to the outer faces of the uprights in a vertically spaced apart relationship to rigidly interconnect the same, and define therebetween two horizontal raceway cavities which open to the opposite side faces of the frame, and extend continuously between the opposite side edges thereof. Hence, when like panels are interconnected side-by-side, the open ends of adjacent raceway cavities are aligned and communicate.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1995Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: Steelcase Inc.Inventors: Charles A. Patent number: 5593045Abstract: A display system has removable fixtures for supporting eyeglasses, eyeglass frames and similar manufactured articles in a display configuration on a substantially vertical display panel. A fixture has a forward end adapted to hold the eyeglasses, eyeglass frames or other article in an attractive display position and a rear end adapted to secure the fixture releasably to an aperture in the display panel. The rear end of the fixture has a face plate that contacts the front surface of the display panel around the periphery of the aperture, a pair of opposed side lugs and a flanged top clip dimensioned to fit in the aperture and engage the periphery of the aperture and the rear surface of the display panel. The fixture is attached by inserting the flanged top clip and pressing rearwardly until the side lugs engage the display panel. The side lugs can have inclined bottom edges that bear against the bottom edge of the aperture, forcing the top clip against the opposite edge.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1994Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Assignee: Eye Designs, Inc.Inventors: James B.
