  • Patent number: 11931898
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, when executed by data processing hardware of a robot having an articulated arm and a base, causes data processing hardware to perform operations. The operations include determining a first location of a workspace of the articulated arm associated with a current base configuration of the base of the robot. The operations also include receiving a task request defining a task for the robot to perform outside of the workspace of the articulated arm at the first location. The operations also include generating base parameters associated with the task request. The operations further include instructing, using the generated base parameters, the base of the robot to move from the current base configuration to an anticipatory base configuration.

  • Patent number: 11850595
Abstract: A flow cell for confining molecules in a fluid. The flow cell includes an upper substrate, an upper support member, a center substrate, a membrane, a lower support member and a lower substrate. The lower support member comprises an imaging chamber it is positioned below the membrane and above the lower substrate. In one embodiment the membrane comprises a nanopore and nanoscale groove extending through the membrane. In another embodiment the lower substrate comprises an upper face in communication with the imaging chamber, and the upper face comprises a plurality of nanoscale grooves extending partially through the lower substrate. In both embodiments the upper substrate, upper support member, center substrate and membrane are displaceable through the imaging chamber, thereby causing molecules in the imaging chamber to be confined or trapped through the nanoscale groove(s) of the membrane or of the lower substrate.

  • Publication number: 20210308977
Abstract: A web of uninflated scented air pillows and a method of forming an air pillow filled with scented air. A scented material is applied to a first surface of a sheet of film material. The sheet of film material is formed into a two-ply web of film material with the first surface positioned as an inner surface within that web. A series of uninflated air chambers are formed in the two-ply web of film material, each of the uninflated air chambers bounded transversely and at a bottom edge and having an open upper longitudinal edge. In this manner, each of uninflated air chambers has scented material on an interior surface thereof. Each uninflated air chambers can be inflated and sealed to form an air pillow. The scented material on the inner surface of the inflated air chambers evaporates upon filling and the air within each inflated air pillow becomes scented.

The flow cell includes an upper substrate, an upper support member, a center substrate, a membrane, a lower support member and a lower substrate. The lower support member comprises an imaging chamber it is positioned below the membrane and above the lower substrate. In one embodiment the membrane comprises at least one perforation comprising a nanopore and nanoscale groove extending through the membrane, vertically aligned and in fluidic communication with both the sensing chamber and the imaging chamber. In another embodiment the lower substrate comprises an upper face in communication with the imaging chamber, the upper face comprises a plurality of nanoscale grooves extending partially into the lower substrate and vertically aligned and in fluid communication with at least one sensing chamber.

  • Patent number: 10682660
Abstract: A scent sampler has a compressible and expandable housing in which there is a chamber containing a resilient, compressible, absorbent, elastic reservoir for absorbing a scented liquid. The housing is formed from two bin-like members made of a form sustainable material, one inverted relative to and telescopically captured within the other for relative reciprocation. Squeezing of the housing urges the housing members to telescope toward one another thereby reducing the volume and increasing the pressure in the chamber for forcing vapor in the chamber into the ambient environment through an opening in the housing.

  • Patent number: 10111511
Abstract: A fragrance testing station at which shoppers in a store can experience, by applying directly to their skin, a sampling mixture having the scent of a liquid fragrance product and contained in a reservoir mountable on a store fixture and having a roller on the bottom of the reservoir for being coated by the mixture under force of gravity. A high viscosity additive in the sampling mixture prevents leakage from a space between the reservoir and roller. The roller can be rotated for transferring a coating of the sampling mixture to the skin of a shopper for experiencing the scent of the liquid fragrance product in the sampling mixture. Multiple reservoirs may be mounted side by side for comparing different fragrance products.

  • Publication number: 20180021781
Abstract: A flow cell for confining molecules in a fluid. The flow cell includes a first substrate and a second substrate being spaced apart by support members. The first and second substrates and the support members define a fluidic chamber to receive the fluid. At least one of the first and second substrates has a nanoscale surface topography including at least one nanoscale groove. At least one of the first and second substrates is displaceable through the fluidic chamber to contact the first substrate against the second substrate. Contact between the first substrate and the second substrate causes displacement of the molecules into the at least one nanoscale groove.

  • Patent number: 9474823
Abstract: A low dispersion scent sampler for point of sale display has a housing with a front panel to which a label advertising products sold at the point of sale may be affixed. Inside of the housing is a blower connected to a timer control circuit and battery through a pushbutton actuated switch. A scented material is provided in the air flow path from the blower to one or more exhaust ports. When the pushbutton is pressed by a consumer, the blower turns on for a brief period of time to force air over the scented material and then through the exhaust ports for sampling of the scent emitted by the scented material. The on time for the blower is brief to limit exposure to the scent to the space occupied by the consumer.

  • Publication number: 20130334341
Abstract: A scent sampler has a sponge-like wafer infused with a fragrance liquid within a chamber between two printable panels. A window to the chamber is covered with a thin, flexible, nonresilient film which may be pressed against the wafer for spraying a mist of the fragrance liquid through an opening in the chamber to the ambient environment. The surfaces of the printable panels are covered with a liquid-impervious barrier web to prevent leakage of the fragrance liquid from, and damage to, the printed surfaces within and outside of the chamber.
