  • Patent number: 9012402
Abstract: A drug-delivery system is described which can serve as a platform for the topical delivery of a wide variety of therapeutic agents to the skin. Specifically, a topical external analgesic gel contains ketoprofen, a skin penetration enhancer/cosolvent, a thickening agent and a base to adjust pH. The formulation uses a relatively small number of safe components and is easy to prepare with a high yield of finished product. The chemical stability of ketoprofen in the gel and the physical stability of the gel itself ensure a satisfactory shelf-life for the product. The gel is aesthetically pleasing (i.e., easy water-washability, non-irritating to skin, non-staining of clothing, etc.) and has proven to provide rapid relief of musculoskeletal pain, thereby helping to ensure patient compliance.

  • Publication number: 20150104633
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a molding method for producing a molded article is provided. The method may include introducing polymer and fiber separately into an extruder in a first ratio to produce a first extruded material having a first fiber content and in a second ratio to produce a second extruded material having a second fiber content different from the first fiber content. The method may further include filling a first region of a mold with the first extruded material and a second region of the mold with the second extruded material. The extruded material may be formed as blanks for use in compression molding or may be introduced into an injection chamber for use in injection molding. The method may be used to form molded articles having a plurality of regions having different fiber contents.

  • Publication number: 20140127424
Abstract: A surface treatment method, machine, and system are disclosed for treating the surface of a substrate by providing a plasma jet generator that directs plasma through a gaseous composition to decompose the gaseous composition into functional groups. A carbon fiber substrate is disclosed that is treated by a plasma jet generator that is directed toward the surface through steam. The plasma jet generator bombards a carbon fiber surface with high energy ions. Carbon-to-carbon chains in the carbon fiber partially break and hydroxide ions are bonded to fractures in the carbon-to-carbon chains. The treatment bonds new hydroxide functional groups to the carbon fiber surface.

Abstract: An environmentally safe rodent control composition for exterminating rodents such as mice and rats without the use of chemicals. The rodent control composition generally includes an attractant base, a digestive upset catalyst such as oleander leaves, a coma catalyst such as lily flowers, a paralysis catalyst such as water hemlock roots and a cardiac arrest catalyst such as lily of valley berries. The attractant base is generally comprised of materials which attract a rodent to the present invention and encourage a rodent to ingest the same. The attractant base may be comprised of such materials as peanut butter, mixed bird seed, mixed grains and the like. A rodent will generally die within 12-36 hours after ingestion of the present composition, which does not include any chemicals or additives which are damaging to the environment.
