  • Publication number: 20180039958
Abstract: An automated method for managing the repair, remanufacture, or refurbishment of electronic products, such as smart cellular phones and tablet computers, based on expected economic returns, beginning with the initial “triage” assessment, and continuing with established check points to validate continuation of the repair process. Parameters used to make this determination include the anticipated market value of the product, projected material and labor costs at any point in the process, and the expected probability of a successful repair completion. Companies engaged in this business usually have a method of projecting the expected cost of repairing an electronic product. However, if the actual repair cost exceeds the projection, this is often not realized until after the completion of the repair or refurbishment, resulting in an economic loss. This automated method provides economically intelligent process routing to prevent that occurrence.

  • Patent number: 8245294
Abstract: The present application relates to virus control in a network. An illustrative embodiment provides a network including a plurality of processing devices and at least one virus control server configured to quarantine a selected processing device from the network by assigning the selected processing device to a unique quarantine sub-network upon the occurrence of a first quarantine event such that all network traffic to and from the selected device must pass through the virus control server.

  • Patent number: 7912072
Abstract: The present invention relates to communications between computing devices. Particularly there is provided a method for enabling communication between a local device of a first network having a predetermined upper layer address space, and a remote device having an upper layer address outside the first network's address space and a lower layer address. In the illustrative embodiments, the present invention enables communication with a remote device as though it were part of a local network by providing a virtual presence for the remote device in the local network address space.

  • Patent number: 6479276
Abstract: Air laden with biodegradable volatile organic compounds is passed sequentially through a first filter bed containing a biologically inert filter media and a second filter bed containing a biologically active filter media. Water is present in the biologically active filter media and the biologically inert filter media. Water that drains from the second filter bed is collected and supplied to the first filter bed.

  • Patent number: 6258504
Abstract: A method for preparing thermoplastic toner resins is disclosed and the toner resins produced by said method. More particularly, an emulsion polymerized resin, constituting a high molecular weight component, is used as a seed for subsequent suspension polymerization of a lower molecular weight component. The emulsion micelles are swelled with monomers and subsequent suspension polymerization produces particles where the high and low molecular weight components are interpenetrated to form a resin with a bimodal distribution of molecular weight. A toner composition is made using the resin as the main component. The resin particle has a first resin portion having a particle size in the range of about 50 to about 200 nm. and a number average molecular weight in the range of about 104 to about 107, and a second resin portion formed around the first resin portion with a number average molecular weight lower than that of said first resin portion, the resin having a polydispersity in the range of 5 to 50.

  • Patent number: 4368554
Abstract: A self-propelled road sweeper has brush gear comprising a narrow sweep brush and a wide sweep brush, together with an associated refuse collecting nozzle. The narrow sweep brush is mounted on a linkage comprising pivotally connected inner and outer mounting links and controlled by pneumatic actuators whereby the position of the brush and its downward loading is controlled. The brush can be tilted by one of said actuators. One of the mounting links is connected to the sweeper frame through a resilient mounting permitting the brush to yield under impact. The application also discloses details of the mounting and structure of the wide sweep brush, and of the mounting and fabrication of the nozzle and of a mechanism for tilting the nozzle.
