    Abstract: The subject invention provides materials and methods for extending the life span and/or immortalizing marine invertebrate cell lines. Specifically exemplified herein are methods for extending the life spans for sponges, cnidarians, mollusks and ascidians. In a preferred embodiment exemplified herein, the cells whose lives are extended are marine sponge cells.
