  • Patent number: 7780202
Abstract: A threaded oilfield tubular connection 10 includes a pin member 12 having a first external tapered thread 24 and a second external tapered thread 26. A box member includes a first internal tapered thread 14 and a second internal tapered thread 16. Helical torque shoulders 40, 42 are provided on the pin member and the box member, and an axially spaced between the respective first and second threads. The helix of each torque shoulder includes a plurality of revolutions with compression flanks on both the pin member and the box member.

  • Publication number: 20060222475
Abstract: A thread form having improved strength and fatigue resistance. The root of the thread is cut on multiple cutting radii having displaced centers. At least two of the root surfaces are formed by cutting radii having lengths that are greater than the root truncation. The threads are used in a double start configuration to increase the connection strength and reduce makeup and breakout rotations.

  • Publication number: 20060016590
Abstract: The present invention includes a downhole component adapted for transmitting downhole data. The downhole component includes a threaded end on a downhole component. The threaded end furthermore includes an interior region, and exterior region, and a mating surface wherein a cavity is formed. A data transmission element is disposed in the cavity and displaces a volume of the cavity. At least one passageway is formed in the threaded region between interior and exterior regions. The passageway is in fluid communication with both the interior and exterior regions and thereby relieves pressure build up of thread lubricant upon tool joint make up.
