Publication number: 20220251820Abstract: A normally open backwater prevention valve for connecting to a sanitary drainpipe. The valve has an inflow end to connect to an upstream part of the drainpipe, and an out-flow end to connect to a downstream part of the drainpipe. There is a main body defining a flow through chamber extending between the inflow and the out-flow ends and a valve seat formed on an upstream side of the main body which faces downstream. A float assembly having opposed floats on opposite sides of the flow through chamber has a check valve assembly including at least a valve member located between the opposed floats. The valve member is sized and shaped to seal on the valve seat, and is operatively connected to the float assembly through a gear box. When the floats are down the valve member is in an open position and when the floats are up the valve member is moved to a closed position on the valve seat. Also provided is an access opening on a top of the flow through chamber, and a removable cover for sealing the access opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2022Publication date: August 11, 2022Applicant: Canplas Industries Ltd.Inventors: James Brian Mantyla, Scott Baldwin

Publication number: 20220099317Abstract: A dual function roof vent having a main body having an air passageway extending therethrough and being sized and shaped to fit onto an opening in a roof where the air passageway defines an air to flow path between the interior and the exterior of a building. The air passageway also defines a vent net free flow area. A collar is attached to and extends below the main body, and the collar is sized and shaped to fit through the roof opening. The collar including air inflow gaps, and a fan mount, with an electrically powered fan mounted to said fan mount. The collar air inflow area, including the air inflow gaps, is within about 5% of the vent net free flow area defined by the air passageway.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2021Publication date: March 31, 2022Applicant: Canplas Industries Ltd.Inventor: James Brian Mantyla

Patent number: 11123657Abstract: An in-line grease interceptor assembly adapted to separate fat, oil, and grease (FOG) out from wastewater mixed with FOG. The assembly has an inlet for receiving wastewater mixed with FOG, an outlet for discharging wastewater after at least some FOG has been separated out from the wastewater, and a chamber hydraulically located between the inlet and the outlet. The chamber has lateral sides, a floor, and an open top, and is adapted to maintain the mixed wastewater in the chamber at a predetermined liquid level located below the open top while accumulating the separated FOG in a layer above the predetermined liquid level. An auxiliary baffle is positioned inside the chamber, extending from a downstream end toward an upstream end of the chamber, between the floor and the open top. The auxiliary baffle has a downstream end, an upstream end, and lateral sides, and defines a first separation section above the auxiliary baffle, and a second separation section below the auxiliary baffle.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2020Date of Patent: September 21, 2021Inventors: Jack Robert Meher, James Brian Mantyla, Rachel Catherine Elaine Beaulieu

Publication number: 20140342658Abstract: There is disclosed a roof vent having rain control means to reduce rain water splashing into the opening in a roof vent. The baffle has a number of ridges or channels that direct rain water into a number of droplet pathways. The falling water creates a rain curtain that deflects rain water that enters into the roof vent from travelling into interior of the building. At the base of the roof vent is one or more splash deflectors that changes the angle of water impacting the base of the roof vent to limit the amount of deflected water that can enter into the opening in the roof vent. The rain curtain and one or more splash deflector may act in concert to further divert rainwater.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2013Publication date: November 20, 2014Applicant: Canplas Industries Ltd.Inventors: Richard Alan Parkinson, Donna Maria Burtch, Timothy Duane Bach, James Brian Mantyla, Kent Douglas Proctor, James Edwin Teskey
