Abstract: An electric power assist system for use with a pedal vehicle. The system has (a) an electric motorized wheel (2) including a plurality of spokes (8) extending from the motor housing to the rim (6), at least one the spoke (8) configured so as to define within it a battery compartment (20) in which at least one power supply battery (22) is deployed, wherein the battery compartment (20) lies in the planer region substantially defined by the outer sides of the rim (6); (b) a wireless throttle control in RF communication with the wheel (2); and (c) a wireless pedal assist sensor in RF comunication with the wheel (12) and configured to deteect movement of the pedal vehicle and transmit command signals to the wheel so as to start power assist operation, and to stop the power assist operation as determined by the movement of the pedals.

Abstract: A heart rate monitor includes a user system adjacent to a user's skin in communication with a remote processing system. The user system includes a user processor, a user memory coupled to the user processor, a clock signal generator coupled to the processor, a sensing system coupled to the processor for measuring at least a user heart rate, a user transceiver coupled to the processor, a user interface coupled to the processor, and a user antenna coupled to the transceiver. A user battery is coupled to the user processor, the user memory, the clock signal generator, the sensing system, and the user transceiver. The remote processing system includes a remote processor, a remote memory coupled to the remote processor, a remote transceiver coupled to the remote processor, and a remote antenna coupled to the remote transceiver.

Abstract: Provided are a broadcast signal interface unit and method for converting program content and ancillary data of a first broadcast type into a broadcast channel of a second broadcast signal type. The broadcast channel of the second broadcast signal type is provided to one or more broadcast receivers of the second broadcast signal type in order to reproduce the program content and the ancillary data. The broadcast signal converter includes a converter for generating the broadcast channel of the second broadcast signal type. The generated broadcast channel of the second broadcast signal type comprises the program content and ancillary data.

Abstract: A portable audio device is provided and includes (a) a housing shaped as a cassette and insertable into a cassette deck of a cassette player; (b) a digital audio player in the housing, the digital audio player including a memory and an audio chip for storing and subsequently playing digital audio information through at least one speaker; and (c) an emulator in the housing, the emulator operatively communicating with the digital audio player for emulating the digital audio information as analog audio information readable by a magnetic playing head of the cassette player for playing the digital audio information through the cassette player.
