  • Publication number: 20070286534
Abstract: A reclosable package having a zipper closure, and optionally a slider device to open and close the zipper closure. The package includes a sealant stripe, which can be a peal seal, and a one-way fluid valve. In use, the valve is used to remove air from the interior of the package, and the sealant strip, in combination with the zipper closure, provides a better seal than the zipper alone. The package may be part of a storage system that includes stand-off structures adjacent to the valve, a vacuum pump assembly, and a liquid separator assembly coupled to the vacuum pump assembly.

  • Publication number: 20070184961
Abstract: A method of making and filling reclosable packages using a duplex machine includes the steps of providing a zipper profile, package film and a plurality of sliders; feeding the zipper profile; applying the sliders to the zipper profile; coupling the zipper profile to the folded web; sealing two edges of the folded web to form adjacent pouches; filling the pouches; sealing the pouches proximate a third edge thereof; and separating the pouches in order to form individual packages. The method employs a single rotating slider applicator having a programmable servo motor which is programmed in order to synchronize the application of the sliders to the moving zipper profile with the two at a time form, fill, seal and separate packaging operations of the duplex machine. A duplex machine is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070127850
Abstract: A reclosable, tamper-proof, fillable package includes a first side panel and a second side panel joined to each other along a pair of spaced side seals. A bottom wall extends between the first and second side panels with the bottom wall and the first and second side panels defining a package interior. A tamper-evident structure having opposite sides connected to each other extends above a combined zipper closure and slider device, and is connected to the zipper closure. Only one side of the tamper-evident structure is initially connected to one of the first and second side panels so that a fill opening adapted to receive a product is created between the other side of the tamper-evident structure and the other of the first and second side panels.

  • Publication number: 20070127851
Abstract: A method of manufacturing is provided for a reclosable, free standing package adapted to be self-supporting in an upright position when resting on a horizontal support surface. The method includes the steps of providing a bottom panel in the form of a stand-up web having a planar base and a pair of legs depending from opposite sides of the base; inserting the stand-up web between a first film panel and a second film panel; and creating spaced apart bottom edges of the package by sealing a lower end of the first film panel to one of the legs, and a lower end of the second film panel to the other of the legs such that an entire surface of the base lies substantially parallel to a plane containing the bottom edges.

  • Publication number: 20070071367
Abstract: A reclosable tamper-evident package is opened and closed repeatedly by moving a slider device with a clip in a first, inoperative position that interlocks a first closure of the package. When it is desired to close the package and provide an indication of further opening, the clip is moved to a second, operative position, so that motion of the slider also interlocks a second closure that cannot be opened without providing an indication. A slider device includes a top wall, first and second sidewalls, and a clip moveable from an inoperative position to an operative position. A closure assembly includes a zipper with the slider device. A method of using a package includes grasping a slider device and pushing a clip down to engage the clip against a portion of a zipper closure arrangement, and then moving the slider device in a first direction while the clip squeezes the portion of the zipper closure arrangement to close the mouth.

  • Publication number: 20060171610
Abstract: A slider device for use on the closure mechanism of a reclosable plastic bag to assist in opening and closing of the bag is disclosed. The closure mechanism has resealable profiles with track members and the slider device has a separator structure that grips the track members in opening and closing the profile lock members. The relationship between the separator device and the track members allows for easier opening and closing of the bag and removal of the slider from the bag more difficult. A method of manufacturing and using a reclosable bag having the slider device and closure mechanism is also disclosed.
