Publication number: 20230304167Abstract: The invention describes an electrochemically enabled process for the production of magnesium hydroxide from mineral resources, using acid produced in the electrolysis cell for heap or vat leaching of the mineral resources. The process also enables extraction of nickel, cobalt, iron and silica from the mineral resources, and reduction or elimination of asbestos fiber. The produced magnesium hydroxide is used for carbon dioxide capture and sequestration from gaseous and liquid environments.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2023Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Alexandru Vasile Mezei, Mariam Melashvili, Brock Bruno Battochio, Gregory Hudson Rau, William James Burt

Publication number: 20220396503Abstract: A platform for sequestering carbon dioxide using a body of water is described. The platform has a vessel for holding solid metal hydroxide and for exposing the solid metal hydroxide to a flow of water to create a solution of a metal hydroxide having a pH level. The solution containing metal hydroxide is released into the body of water, causing a reaction with the carbon dioxide present in the body of water, thereby producing metal carbonate/bicarbonate, thus sequestering the carbon dioxide. A choice of the metal in the metal hydroxide, a rate of the releasing the solution containing the metal hydroxide into the body of water, and a flow rate of the flow of water so that to substantially maintain the solution containing the metal hydroxide at the pH level that is defined as environmentally safe and not changing chemistry of seawater. A corresponding method is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2022Publication date: December 15, 2022Inventors: Gregory Hudson RAU, Carl POIRIER, William James BURT, Michael John KELLAND, Victoria DONNELLY

Patent number: 10889922Abstract: An enhanced, co-formed fibrous web structure is disclosed. The web structure may have a co-formed core layer sandwiched between two scrim layers. The core layer may be formed of a blend of cellulose pulp fibers and melt spun filaments. The scrim layers may be formed of melt spun filaments. Filaments of one or both of the scrim layers, and optionally the core layer, may also be meltblown filaments. The core layer may include consolidated masses of cellulose pulp fibers to, for example, enhance texture and cleaning efficacy of a wet wipe made from the structure. The material forming the consolidated masses may be selected and/or processed so as to cause the masses to have reduced visual discernibility relative the surrounding areas of the structure, when the fibrous web structure is wetted. A method for forming the structure, including formation and inclusion of the consolidated masses, is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2016Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Mario Castillo, Steven Lee Barnholtz, Adam James Burt, Pamela Marie Morison

Patent number: 10399403Abstract: A spring aid assembly for a vehicle suspension system. The spring aid assembly includes: a housing having a generally cylindrical cavity formed therein, a damper including a rod extending through a cap, and a spring aid having a proximal end retained within the cavity of the housing, a distal end extending in an axial direction away from the housing, and an outer circumferential groove formed therein. The cavity in the housing is bounded by a generally cylindrical inner peripheral wall that has a plurality of axially and radially extending projections extending therefrom. A ring is positioned in the outer circumferential groove of the spring aid. The ring provides a positive stop to the spring aid assembly and prevents the cap of the damper from coming into direct contact with the housing during full compression of the damper.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2015Date of Patent: September 3, 2019Assignee: JAGUAR LAND ROVER LIMITEDInventors: Diana Chambers, James Burt, Shaun Blundell, Davide Migliorini, Rodney Weston

Patent number: 6444968Abstract: In a CCD imager, a charge is accumulated in pixels of an image area representative of the intensity of incident radiation and is subsequently transferred to a store section and then on a row by row basis to an output register by applying suitable drive pulses to drive electrodes. Signal charge in the output register is transferred to a multiplication register by drive pulses applied to drive electrodes to give charge transfer in the direction shown by the arrows. One or more drive pulses applied to the electrodes of the multiplication register are of sufficiently large amplitude to produce high field regions in the register element to cause signal multiplication by impact ionisation. This gives a low noise amplification of the signal charge, the multiplied signal charge being detected at charge detection circuit.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2000Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Inventors: David James Burt, Raymond Thomas Bell
