  • Patent number: 5239627
Abstract: A parallel interface connects a data processor and a printer so that each may transmit information to the other or receive information from the other. The transmitted information from the data processor can be data or status signals. The data or status signals are transmitted over the same eight information lines between the data processor and the printer with a predetermined signal being sent over another line from the data processor to the printer prior to transmission over the eight lines to identify whether the transmitted information is data or status signals. The printer sends status signals to the data processor over the same eight information lines after sending a predetermined signal to the data processor over a further line that it is going to transmit.

  • Patent number: 5194899
Abstract: Segments of a full page are composed by data processing apparatus (13) of a printer (1) and separately transferred to intermediate roller (7). When all of the segments of a page are applied to the intermediate roller, the page is transferred to final paper (14) and output from the printer Memory and timing requirements are reduced for composition of complex pages.

  • Patent number: 5050098
Abstract: A printer control system which enables the using application program to automatically selectively alter printer default parameters, to automatically selectively delete previously downloaded fonts and macros, and to enable the printer to operate from one of several datastream formats. The system allows the printer to initialize default parameters for a succeeding job during the printing of a current job as long as the datastream format is unchanged, and allows the deletion of downloaded fonts as long as they are not needed for the current or future pages being printed for the current job.

  • Patent number: 5001653
Abstract: A printer receives and stores coded text character data (22, 23) and also receives graphic image commands in the same datastream. The printer creates a raster image (24) of the graphic image commands and stores the resultant raster image. When rasterizing a page (21), the printer rasterizes the text character data utilizing stored raster fonts and rasterizes the graphic image data from the stored raster image.

  • Patent number: 4603459
Abstract: A rocker bushing for a roller structure for supporting a boat on a trailer bed and having a male and female member formed of two cylindrical portions surrounding the shaft and supporting the roller. Each cylindrical member having a tapered longitudinal portion but terminating in a radially outwardly extending stop flange of increased radial thickness. The bearing surface of the rocker bushing positionally adjacent to the shaft is curved to allow the roller to gimbal or wobble to engage the angle of a boat hull. The integral construciton of the rocker bushing provides support across the entire width of the roller.

  • Patent number: 4354765
Abstract: In a typewriter having text storage capability, the hyphen code that is stored in response to depression of a hyphen key is conditioned on printing position and on the codes adjacent to the hyphen code in a text string. If a hyphen is keyed after the start of the return zone, is preceded by a graphic representative code and is followed by a keyed carrier return, a distinctive hyphen code representative of a syllable hyphen is recorded. Otherwise, a regular hyphen is recorded unless the hyphen key has been depressed in conjunction with a condition key (e.g. the CODE key), in which case a code representative of a required non-breaking hyphen is recorded. As a result of so controlling the recorded hyphen codes at the time of keyboarding, the operator's intentions for hyphenation may be achieved with little departure from normal keyboarding routine.

  • Patent number: 4266880
Abstract: Improved apparatus for effecting semi-automatic insertion of paper into a typewriter concentrates operator interactions, (1) to condition the typewriter for a distance input selection and (2) to trigger indexing for paper insertion, so as to merely involve positioning of the paper bail. A detection of the paper bail at a predefined position withdrawn from the paper feed path conditions the typewriter to interpret keyboard actuations--preferably of the number keys--as representing desired first line distances e.g., the "2" key represents a first line one inch from the top of the sheet. And, in a presently preferred implementation, the number keys represent a fixed distance increment (three lines or approximately one half inch) multiplied by the key number.
