  • Patent number: 5497093
Abstract: Electrical and mechanical operation of a bistable magnetically latching solenoid is diagnosed by monitoring induced voltage across the one of a pair of solenoid coils not energized. Energization of one of the pair of coils induces voltage across the other of the coils not energized and plunger actuation in response to energization induces another voltage therethrough. The various induced voltages are distinguishable as between those caused by energization of a coil or motion of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5014427
Abstract: A disposable shaver includes a primary plunger structure in the pre-rotated position and in the post-rotated position. The disposable shaver comprises: the primary plunger structure; and a handle-shaver head structure. The primary plunger structure further comprises: a plurality of longitudinally directed ribs; and a transversely directed disc structure. The disc structure includes a middle circular disc being a layer of styptic material. The handle-shaver head structure further comprises: a rotatable member; a handle member; a primary plunger holder; and a shaver head. The shaver head includes a rear conduit opening. The primary plunger structure is rotatable about a transverse axis defined by the flexible extension of the rotatable member in order to be inserted into such handle member. The primary plunger structure further comprises a primary plunger end which includes upper piercing means.

  • Patent number: 4393341
Abstract: A vehicle windshield cleaning system is disclosed which includes windshield wiper blades reciprocally driven by an electric motor, and an associated pump driven by an electric motor for dispensing windshield washing liquid onto a windshield to be cleaned. A manually positionable mode selector component in the electric control circuit for the blade and pump motors provides for selectively actuating the wiper blades in mist, pulse, low speed, high speed and wash modes. In the pulse mode, the blade drive motor is energized to intermittently oscillate the wiper blades through succeeding cycles with a time delay therebetween, and in the wash mode the pump motor is energized for a period of time which determines the amount of washer fluid dispensed onto a windshield.

  • Patent number: 4155341
Abstract: An improved ignition system including a member rotatable about an axis and having a permanent magnet with an outwardly extending flux field carried by the member to create a flux field rotating in a given angular path concentric with the axis of the rotating member. In the system there is provided a circuit for creating a sparking voltage upon a rapid change in current in at least a portion of the circuit and switching means for causing the rapid change in current upon actuation of the switching means. The improvement includes a device for storing sparking energy, the switching means includes a solid state device for discharging the storage device upon receipt of a firing signal and a Hall Effect switch activated by a selected D.C. biasing voltage and mounted at a given position with respect to the annular path of the rotating flux field. The Hall Effect switch initiates the switching means to discharge the storage device and cause sparking of the ignition system.

  • Patent number: 4155340
Abstract: A device for creating a sparking voltage across the electrodes of a spark plug of an internal combustion engine comprising a rotatable member carrying a permanent magnet having an outwardly extending flux field movable in an annular path, a transformer having a first winding for creating a current change of a spark creating level and a second winding connected across the electrodes, a Hall Effect switch activated by a D.C. biasing voltage and having an output energized when the switch is exposed to a flux field, switching means for rapidly changing current flow in the first winding only when the switching means is actuated, means for actuating the switching means when the output of the Hall Effect switch is energized, and means for mounting the Hall Effect switch at a selected location where the switch is exposed to an actuating flux from the rotating permanent magnets when the rotating member is at a selected angular position. In accordance with another feature, the D.C.

  • Patent number: 4122371
Abstract: Control circuit for shifting a compartment light between an illuminating condition and a non-illuminating condition for use in a vehicle having a door, a manually actuated door switch and a manually actuated control switch generally in combination with the ignition switch of the vehicle. The control circuit provides means for causing the compartment light to remain illuminated for a preselected time delay after the vehicle door has been closed and a second means for providing a different time delay holding the compartment light illuminated for a time after the control switch has been turned off.

  • Patent number: 4115723
Abstract: A control circuit for controlling the compartment or dome light of a vehicle whereby the dome light remains on after one of the door handle buttons has been depressed. This circuit includes means for retaining a fixed timing function, irrespective of the time the door is opened. Also, the circuit includes means for deactivating the operating circuit during steady state conditions whereby the amount of energy dissipated by the circuit is minimized.

  • Patent number: 3943904
Abstract: A throttle body for a rotary engine includes an electronically controlled single fuel injector with discharge pintle that is located above and between two counterrotating throttle valves with the fuel supply, rotor lubricating oil and idle air being directed through an orifice located below the injector. An atmospheric passage is interposed between the injector and the fuel supply orifice to serve as a vacuum break, through which a conical spray pattern is directed into the orifice which has walls contoured to receive the conical spray pattern and direct it in an unrestricted fashion as a spray cone into the intake manifold of a vehicle during low intake manifold vacuum conditions. The air passage serves to direct idle air through the orifice when throttle valves are closed to produce sonic mixing of idle air and fuel during operation of the engines at a high intake manifold vacuum.
