  • Patent number: 7141534
Abstract: A composite anti-friction bearing structure comprising a bearing substrate and an anti-friction layer. The bearing structure can be in the form of bushings, wear plates, wear rings, etc. The anti-friction layer includes particles of an alloy which combines lubricity of molybdenum with the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of elements such as cobalt and nickel. The invention is particularly related to anti-friction bushings for use in die sets, presses and other heavy duty machinery.

  • Patent number: 5640877
Abstract: The invention relates to a press driven work tool module comprising a power unit and a work unit. Each unit comprises a fluid filled cylinder, a piston for reciprocation therein, and a piston rod. Hydraulic fluid within the power stroke displacement space of the power cylinder is in communication with hydraulic fluid in the work displacement space of the work cylinder, and hydraulic fluid within the return displacement space of the power cylinder is in communication with hydraulic fluid within the return stroke displacement space of the work cylinder. The power cylinder is provided with a moving top plate connected to the power piston rod and a spring arrangement for urging the top plate and power piston rod to the return position, such that a drive force acting on the power piston rod moves the power piston and work piston to the power and work ends of the respective cylinders against the spring bias.

  • Patent number: 5094548
Abstract: A composite and self-lubricating bushing comprises a monolithic steel body having a machined internal cylindrical surface and a porous bearing layer applied to the surface. The porous bearing layer is formed by compacting and sintering a particulate bearing material. The steel body may also include a cavity for storing lubricant and at least one passageway extending between the cavity and the internal cylindrical surface. The bushing may be fabricated by positioning the steel body concentrically over an elastomeric plug, charging the annular cavity between the body and the plug with a sinterable particulate, expanding the elastomeric plug diametrically to compact the particulate, removing the plug and heating the bearing body and compacted particulate.
