  • Patent number: 5038689
Abstract: A book restraint assembly for shelving such as used in libraries. The book restraint assembly has a tubular restraint member that extends the length of the shelf assembly. End plates are positioned adjacent the opposite end of the tubular restraint member and each have a rivet that passes through an aperture therein with the shank of the rivet being received into the respective opposite ends of the tubular restraint member and secured therein. The rear ends of the end plates have a tab extending rearwardly and downwardly and these tabs are detachably received in the end tab slots of post members of a range library book shelf so that the end plates may be pivoted upwardly a predetermined height to allow the tubular restraint member to clear the height of any book on the shelf platform thus allowing them to be removed.

  • Patent number: 4921264
Abstract: A collapsible library range dolly is formed from a pair of side frame mebers, a pair of cross members, and a post. The side frame members each have a pair of swivel casters secured to their bottom surface and there are attachment plates secured to their opposite ends. The cross members each have an upright tubular member secured to their top surface adjacent their ends. Bolts that pass through the upright tubular members have their ends secured to the attachment plates of the side frame members. A vertically oriented post is detachably secured to one of the upright tubular members for pushing or pulling the dolly.

  • Patent number: 4903847
Abstract: A library shelf assembly that has been designed to meet seismic code requirements for libraries in the state of California. The novel library shelf assembly has a tubular base support having a pair of right angularly shaped gussets welded to its top surface. The gussets have vertical edges that are spaced from each other a distance equal to the width of the post assembly that is received therebetween. A plurality of pairs of hat-shaped straps have their opposite ends bolted together thereby capturing the post assembly between the respective gussets. Anchor plates are welded on the opposite ends of the tubular base support for securing the base supports to a concrete or other type of floor structure. Conventional shelf brackets have their fingers detachably received in vertically oriented rows of spaced slots in the respective post assemblies. Standard shelves are connected between the respective shelf brackets.

  • Patent number: 4238944
Abstract: A stepped shaft is rough-formed at a single work station by means of separate sets of rolls operating sequentially to rough-form shaft portions of different diameters. A first set of rolls operates to reduce the diameter of the entire workpiece to approximately the desired major diameter of the finished stepped shaft. Other sets of rolls operate to further reduce the diameters of selected portions of the shaft. In preferred practice the workpiece is pre-heated to a suitable work temperature and the entire rolling sequence is carried out rapidly to produce a rough-formed stepped shaft which will require a minimum of further machining.
