    Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides an event recording system that has an event-capture module, an editing module, and a media recording module. The event capture module captures an event signal, such as an audio signal from a sound event, and transforms the signal into a primary event file that is accessible as it is being formed. The editing module is communicatively connected to the event capture module. It accesses and parses the primary event file into one or more digital track files that can be recorded onto a recording media. Likewise, the media recording module is communicatively linked to the editing module for receiving the one or more digital track files from the editing module. The media recording module has a plurality of media recorders for simultaneously recording the one or more digital track files onto a plurality of recording media. This allows a plurality of recording media, with the entire event recorded upon each media, to be available shortly after the event has ended.

    Abstract: A high speed system for locating and decoding glyphs on documents is disclosed. The system includes acquiring one or more images of a document containing a glyph. One-dimensional projections of the images are correlated against a reference function to locate the glyph in the images. The position of the glyph is refined by correlating against a kernel designed to have a maximum response when aligned over a corner of the glyph. Symbols in the glyph are decoded utilizing a kernel which generates a positive response for one symbol type and a negative response for the other.

    Abstract: On-line inspection of opaque, translucent and transparent elastomer sealed flexible and semi-rigid package seals is provided. In the case of highly reflective opaque seals of various elastomers and colors, low incident angle structured side lighting is used to locate and define the seal and highlight defects within the sealed area. For transparent i.e. highly light transmissive seals, not only is the low incident structured side lighting utilized to define the seal area, but back lighting of the package and seal is provided in order to then locate and classify defects within the seal boundaries. Multiple video images of portions of the area containing the seal and portions of the remaining lidstock are generated by CCD type cameras in response to one or more sensors which detect the presence and proper positioning of the package moving along a conveyor for image acquisition.
