  • Patent number: 10371479
Abstract: A weapon station includes a low profile adapter and rotating platform. The low profile adapter is mountable on numerous vehicles or structures, including armored combat vehicles, and mounted concentrically with an operator ingress and egress. The low profile adapter may be mountable on optical sights, such as periscopes. The rotating platform is mounted on the low profile adapter and concentric with the operator ingress and egress and is rotatable about an azimuth axis. The weapon station includes a weapon that can be fired in stabilized, power, and manual modes. The weapon can be fired from within the vehicle in stabilized and power modes, and an operator can fire the weapon manually without leaving the protection of the operator ingress and egress. The weapon station does not obstruct a line-of-sight through optical sights and affords an operator enhanced protection during combat engagements due to its ingress/egress-centric configuration.

  • Patent number: 9644916
Abstract: A modular weapon station includes a rotatable frame adapted to be mounted on a platform and is configured to have a removable cradle with a weapon mounted thereon. The rotatable frame may also include a removable ammunition feed chute, an optical sighting unit, and azimuth and elevation drives. The modular weapon station may also include a rotatable drum and ammunition loading assembly coupled with the rotatable frame assembly. The rotatable drum and ammunition loading assembly may be located in an under armor position such that an operator may replenish ammunition from an under armor position and not be subjected to hostile fire while replenishing ammunition. Belted ammunition rounds may travel along an ammunition feed path stemming from the loading assembly within the rotatable drum to a selected weapon.

  • Patent number: 6843125
Abstract: An apparatus 10 for producing one or more characterizing measurements of a surface 12 in relation to a repeatedly reproducible datum axis A-A, the apparatus 10 comprising a probe 14; a first porous surface 16 located on the probe 14, the first porous surface 16 being in communication with a first source of fluid pressure 18, the first porous surface 16 being located proximate to opposing walls 20 that defines a volume 22, so that a non-contacting fluid pressure gap 24 is formed between the first porous surface 16 and the walls 20, the first porous surface 16 defining the datum axis A-A; at least one second porous surface 26 located on the probe 14, the at least one second porous surface 26 being in communication with a second source of fluid pressure 28, the at least one second porous surface 26 being located in a cooperative relationship with the surface 12 to be measured, so that a non-contacting fluid pressure gap 30 is fanned between the at least one second porous surface 26 and the surface to be measured

  • Patent number: 6612449
Abstract: An intelligent power assisted manual manipulator controllable by operator inputs from an operator for moving an object is provided. The manipulator includes a movable base supporting a lift mechanism for moving the object. The manipulator also includes at least one servomotor for actuating at least one of the movable base and the lift mechanism for moving the object. An operator control mechanism for receiving the operator inputs is supported on the lift mechanism. A plurality of force sensors are disposed between the operator control mechanism and the lift mechanism for sensing said operator inputs and actuating at least one of the at least one servomotor. The movable base includes an overhead rail defining a generally horizontal first axis and a carriage supported on the overhead rail and movable along the first axis. The lift mechanism includes a turret assembly supported on the carriage having a generally vertical second axis, and a generally horizontal third axis.

  • Patent number: 4892172
Abstract: A shaft lock assembly has a stator and a plurality of radially disposed, reciprocating lock vanes that are moved on the stator to lock and release a shaft. The vanes are held in their locked position by a rotatable cam ring. A rotatable cam scroll lifts the vanes from their locked position and positions the vanes in their released position. The vanes and shaft have coacting surfaces to produce a regenerative separating force on the vanes from a locked shaft which is under torque as the shaft is unlocked.

  • Patent number: 4501190
Abstract: A three rack and double pinion weapon elevation mechanism is disclosed and is useful for positioning and balancing a weapon, such as a cannon, on a combat vehicle. Two hydraulically-actuated gear racks are in facing relation with a main pinion in meshing engagement therebetween. The main pinion is integral with a shaft to which an output pinion is attached. Rotation of the main pinion produces an identical rotation of the output pinion. The output pinion is in mesh with a sector gear attached to the weapon. The two racks are slidable past the main pinion causing it and the output pinion to rotate in one direction or the other, producing a corresponding elevation or depression of the weapon. A third hydraulically-actuated rack is meshed with the main pinion to exert an elevating torque on the output pinion counter to a depressing torque exerted thereon by the weight of the weapon and which varies with changes in weapon elevation angle.
