    Abstract: A method for notifying an internet browser user of an incoming telephone call is performed by intemet call notification software residing on the user's computer and software residing within a telephone network. A user selects the location of the internet notification software as a home page for the browser. The home page prompts the user for activation of internet call notification. If the user requests internet call notification, the software transmits an internet protocol address to the telephone network. The network then stores the internet protocol address for the user. When a call is made to the user, the telephone network accesses a database to retrieve the stored internet protocol address. The network then transmits a message to the user's software to notify the user of the incoming call. The software displays a window containing information about the telephone call. If the user chooses to accept the call, the software closes the browser and connects the telephone call to the user.

    Abstract: An axial flux induction motor containing both laminates and soft magnetic composite materials is described. By combining these two materials, the axial flux induction motor obtains a limited volumetric space, including a limited height, and smooth torque output, including a limited ripple. The axial flux induction motor also contains rotors bars that are skewed. These skewed bars smooth the torque pulsations of the induction motor, enhancing an efficient operation of the motor.

    Abstract: A stress or magnetic field sensor comprises a generally elongate magnetically soft amorphous or nanocrystalline electrically resistive element and biasing means for applying to the element a bias magnetic field of which the component directed along the length of the sensor has an amplitude variation pattern along the element. A periodically varying pattern has the effect of reducing the sensitivity of a stress sensor to external ambient fields (FIG. 3 shows that with a sawtooth bias field the sensitive portions a of a sensor move to positions b in the presence of an ambient field, but their number remains the same). A ramped bias field enables the position of the sensitive region of the sensor to be controlled, for measuring local stress, or for mapping an external magnetic field. Control of the regions where the sensor is active may include selective conductive coating of portions of its length.

Ridges (68) each define a corresponding one of several inner channels (74) radially disposed about passage (54) that each intersect passage (54) between inlet (56) and outlet (58). Several outer channels (84) are also radially disposed about passage (54) and are each positioned between a corresponding pair of inner channels (74). Ridges are each shaped to turn inner channels (74 and outer channels (84) about the axis as ridges (68) extend along the indicated direction. Inner channels (74) diverge away from the axis and one another in this direction while outer channels (84) converge toward the axis and one another in this direction.

    Abstract: Stable topical oral compositions comprising at least a minimally effective amount of chlorite ion are disclosed, wherein the pH of the final composition is greater than 7, the composition is essentially free of chlorine dioxide, and the composition is stable against loss of chlorite for a period of at least one year under normal storage conditions at about 25° C. or for a period of 3 months under accelerated storage conditions at about 40° C. Preferably the compositions further comprise a flavor system, which is stable against degradation by chlorite. The compositions are formulated as therapeutic rinses, especially mouth rinses, as well as toothpastes, gels, tooth powders, chewing gums, mouth sprays, lozenges (including breath mints), dental implements (such as dental floss and tape), and pet care products.

    Abstract: A method, simulation, and apparatus are provided that are highly suitable for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A catheter is disclosed that includes a small diameter disk loaded monopole antenna surrounded by fusion material having a high heat of fusion and a melting point preferably at or near body temperature. Microwaves from the antenna heat prostatic tissue to promote necrosing of the prostatic tissue that relieves the pressure of the prostatic tissue against the urethra as the body reabsorbs the necrosed or dead tissue. The fusion material keeps the urethra cool by means of the heat of fusion of the fusion material. This prevents damage to the urethra while the prostatic tissue is necrosed. A computer simulation is provided that can be used to predict the resulting temperature profile produced in the prostatic tissue.

    Abstract: A stator assembly for a linear motor includes a plurality of interleaved modular pieces. Prewound coils and spacer pieces are alternately provided along the length of the stator. The spacer pieces have a generally trapezoidal cross section, complementary to a trapezoidal cross section of the prewound coils. Rims may be provided at an inner region of the spacer pieces. At the outer edge of the spacer pieces is provided a wall which mates with the identical wall on an adjacent spacer piece. The spacer piece may have radial slots cut entirely and/or partially through the piece in order to reduce the current and eddy currents induced when the prewound coils are energized.

The method can be used to fully-strip a coating (e.g., from a turbine component), or to partially strip one sublayer of the coating. Related processes and an apparatus are also described.
