  • Publication number: 20080203835
Abstract: An electronic control unit (ECU) for a motor is mounted to a drum housing or the like in a plane parallel to the plane defined by the surface of the drum housing on which the motor is mounted. The housing for the motor includes an aperture window. Power contacts from the ECU mate with contacts from the motor through the window. Hall-effect sensors attached to the ECU can extend through the aperture to be proximate a ring magnet attached to the armature shaft of the motor. Alternatively, flux guides attached to the drum housing to transmit magnetic flux information from the motor to the Hall-effect sensors. Alternatively, optical sensors attached to the ECU can detect rotations of a reflector ring attached to the armature shaft through the window.

  • Publication number: 20060174783
Abstract: A new and improved roller press for embellishing media includes a pair of spaced apart roller press members having convex shaped radially outer press surfaces. A handle having a ratchet mechanism is connected to a first roller for turning the roller during pressing. A gear set connects the rollers for turning a second roller in a rotational direction opposite of the first roller for moving the media between the rollers for pressing. A feed bed and exit bed slope away from the rollers to provide a stable base for supporting the press.

  • Patent number: 7055427
Abstract: A new and improved embellishing die and system and method for embellishing media is provided. The embellishing die includes a first side having a first embellishing surface and a second side having a second embellishing surface. The first and second sides can be on opposite sides of the die. The first and second embellishing surfaces can each include a cutter for cutting the media, or an embossing surface for embossing the media. The first embellishing surface can include an embossing surface for embossing the media and the second embellishing surface can include a cutter for cutting the media. The system can include the embellishing die and a press for pressing media against the media embellishing die to embellish the media.

  • Publication number: 20050022682
Abstract: A system and method of embossing media with an embossing template is provided. The system includes an elastomeric pad which deforms during pressing to spread the press forces over the embossing template. The system can also include a press and a platen plate assembly. The method includes pressing the media, the embossing template and the elastomeric embossing pad in a press to emboss the media with the embossing template. The elastomeric embossing pad deforms during pressing to spread the press forces over the embossing template to create detailed embossings. A wide variety of items can be used as the embossing template to produce a vast array of embossed creations.
