  • Patent number: 10399187
Abstract: A method to repair an opening in a metallic device including: mount the device on a positioner; while the device is mounted on the positioner, sense and record positions of a surface of an opening in the device using a probe operated by a manipulator; based on the recorded positions determine a centerline and diameter of the opening; orient a digital model of the opening with respect to the opening of the device based on the centerline and diameter of the opening, and apply an weld or cladding to the opening by a welding torch maneuvered automatically by the manipulator while the device is mounted to the positioner and based on the oriented digital model of the opening.

  • Patent number: 9845703
Abstract: A turbine component surface treatment process includes passing a UV-curable maskant through one or more fluid flow passages, wherein at least a portion of the UV-curable maskant exits the one or more fluid flow passages at an exterior surface of the turbine component, applying a UV light to the exterior surface of the turbine component, wherein the UV light cures at least a portion of the UV-curable maskant exiting the one or more fluid flow passages, and, treating the exterior surface with a treatment material, wherein the portion of the UV-curable maskant cured by the UV light substantially blocks the treatment material from entering the one or more fluid flow passages.

  • Publication number: 20150059177
Abstract: A method for removing an end cap assembly from a combustor cap assembly includes inserting a push rod through an opening in a back plate portion of the cap assembly. One end of the push rod is engaged with a radial support feature of the end cap assembly and a substantially linear force is applied to the push rod. The force is distributed to the radial support feature, thereby preventing damage to a cap plate portion of the end cap assembly.

  • Patent number: 8931184
Abstract: A method for dimensionally inspecting a component of a gas turbine system is provided. The method includes disposing the component on a fixture for stabilizing the component. Also included is probing a first datum location of the component with a coordinate measurement machine for establishing a first datum point. Further included is probing at least one location of the component with the coordinate measurement machine to determine at least one measurement relative to the first datum point. Yet further included is displaying the at least one measurement in an output report.
