  • Patent number: 12241332
Abstract: A well interval isolation device is disclosed. The wellbore isolation device may have a plurality of expandable elements that cooperate upon expansion downhole in a wellbore to create multiple isolated well intervals. At least two pairs of expandable elements that are spaced apart on a tool string are usable to create both a primary isolated well interval and at least one isolated guard interval on each of an uphole side and a downhole side of the primary isolated well interval. The isolated guard intervals function to further isolate the primary isolated well interval from surrounding well fluid, thereby allowing a difference between the pressure within the primary isolated well interval and the hydrostatic pressure of the well fluid (i.e., the differential pressure) to safely exceed the maximum differential pressure at which any of the individual expandable elements can operate while simultaneously maintaining isolation of the well intervals.

  • Publication number: 20250020059
Abstract: A downhole tool to be positioned in a wellbore in a subsurface formation. The downhole tool comprises a first rod configured with a first cavity to obtain samples of formation fluid. The downhole tool comprises a translating member configured to shift the first rod from an open position to a closed position to obtain, via the first cavity, a first fluid sample of the formation fluid from a first location in the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20240254877
Abstract: A downhole fluid sampling tool may include: a tool body; a flow port disposed on the tool body; a sample chamber disposed within the tool body and fluidly coupled to the flow port; a pump disposed within the tool body, wherein the pump is configured to pump a fluid through the flow port into the sample chamber; a filter disposed on an inlet of the flow port, wherein the filter is configured to filter the fluid entering the flow port; and a removable filter cover configured to prevent fluid contact with the filter.

  • Publication number: 20070119587
Abstract: A method and apparatus for maintaining the single phase integrity of a deep well formation sample that is removed to the surface comprises a vacuum jacket insulated single working cylinder divided by two free pistons into three variable volume chambers. The intermediate chamber is pre-charged with a fixed quantity of high pressure gas. Wellbore fluid freely admitted to one end chamber bears against one free piston to further compress the gas. The formation sample is pumped into the other end chamber to first, displace the wellbore fluid from the first end chamber and, sequentially, to further compress the gas to preserve the sample phase state upon removal to the surface.
