  • Publication number: 20210314879
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are drawn to methods and electronic devices capable of performing coordinate spatial reuse for wirelessly transmitting data on a channel in coordination with another wireless AP operating an overlapping BSS using the same wireless channel. The device can perform RSSI measurements and generate Per-RU RSSI reports including the RSSI measurements information for transmission to another wireless AP. The RSSI measurement can be performed by the device based on power levels detected when receiving TB PPDUs transmitted by wireless STAs responsive to trigger frames, for example. Based on the Per-RU RSSI report, a wireless AP can be configured to transmit data to an associated wireless STA without causing significant interference when another AP of the overlapping BSS is also transmitting, and can schedule frames for transmission from associated wireless STAs accordingly.

  • Patent number: 11134518
Abstract: A cooperative multi-band wireless station architecture that enables full duplex operations of wireless stations (STAs). Such an STA includes a WIFI transceiver and one or more additional transceivers. The two transceivers (and the associated channels) operate in mutually exclusive WIFI bands or different types of protocols and therefore can transmit and/or receive simultaneously without signal interference to each other. The multiple transceivers can perform independent clear channel assessment (CCA) and then simultaneously perform signal transmission or reception jointly or independently. In a cooperative multi-band operation, one channel may be used as an independent assistant channel and responsible for supplying assistant information relevant to a transmission opportunity (TXOP) for the other channel (primary channel) to take corresponding actions.

  • Patent number: 11108439
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an apparatus and method for a MAP wireless network that includes a collaborative channel sounding measurement phase to determine channel state information between devices (e.g., the channel state between an STA and a collaborative AP) for efficient configuration of the MAP wireless network and to improve the performance of the MAP wireless networks. The wireless AP and wireless STAs associated with the collaborative APs can simultaneously transmit by applying collaborative beamforming where the interferences between channels nullify each other (e.g., nulling), and the beamforming is performed based on a sounding phase performed by the collaborative APs. The sounding protocol can include a collaborative sounding measurement phase and a collaborative sounding feedback report phase, using Null Data Packets (NDPs), for example, as described herein according to embodiments of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20210250963
Abstract: Multi-link operations can provide higher network throughput and improved network flexibility compared to traditional techniques for wireless communication. Embodiments of the present invention provide a method of frame transmission that prevents constrained MLDs from transmitting and receiving frames on multiple links simultaneously using a novel and reliable group addressed frame transmission schedule for constrained MLDs. Group addressed frames are frames that are transmitted to several devices (e.g., broadcast) listening on a wireless link. It is important to carefully schedule group addressed frames for reception by MLDs to prevent IDC interference. According to some embodiments, group addressed frames are only transmitted when all MLDs listening on a wireless link are not transmitting data to prevent IDC interference.

  • Publication number: 20210250848
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide apparatus and methods for announcing a BSS parameter updates for a wireless link that can be received by a MLD even when the MLD is not listening for parameter updates on that specific link by employing a different wireless link to broadcast, receive, and/or signal the BSS parameter update. An MLD can update the BSS parameters of the wireless link and use the wireless link according to the updated BSS parameters (e.g., after performing a channel switch). According to some embodiments, an STA within an AP MLD transmits an information elements (IE) including BSS parameter updates associated with a different STA (operating on a different wireless link) within the AP MLD.

  • Publication number: 20210243693
Abstract: Systems and methods of transmitting a multi-user (MU) wake-up packet in FDMA. In the wake-up setup stage, an STA informs the AP that it can resolve an MU wake-up packet transmitted in FDMA. Accordingly, AP allocates a frequency channel to the STA in a WUR setup response frame which indicates a channel offset relative to the primary channel. Moreover, if a WUR channel allocated to an STA is inaccessible or there is on pending wake-up signal for the STA, no wake-up signal is included in the MU wake-up packet while any other accessible allocated channels may still be utilized for transmitting the scheduled wake-up signals. During such a transmission, an inaccessible channel may be punctured; and an accessible channel having no pending wake-up signal may be used to carry an invalid wake-up signal or a legacy preamble followed with no wake-up signal.

  • Patent number: 11076425
Abstract: System and method of using an AP to individually controlling RTS/CTS duration thresholds for multiple STAs in a WLAN. In response to a STA's association request, the AP determines a duration threshold specific to the STA and encloses this information in an association response for transmission to the STA. By using a broadcast frame, the AP may instruct multiple STAs to uniformly update their stored duration thresholds. For example, if the duration threshold field in the beacon frame is set to 0, the multiple STAs preserve their current duration thresholds; if the field is set to a non-zero value less than 1023, the multiple STAs all update their duration thresholds to the non-zero value; if this field is set to 1023, the multiple STAs disable the RTS/CTS transmissions based on the duration threshold. Based on a current threshold and pertinent policies, an STA can decide whether to initiate an RTS/CTS transmission sequence.

  • Publication number: 20210212118
Abstract: A multi-link device (MLD) monitors each of first and second links in a multi-link operation in wireless communications, with the first link being a primary link and the second link being a secondary link. The MLD obtains a transmission opportunity (TXOP) on one of the first link and the second link as a result of performing a contention-based channel access on the first link and the second link. The MLD checks channel status of the other of the first link and the second link. The MLD then transmits one or more frames on the first link but not on the second link, on the second link but not on the first link, or on both the first link and the second link synchronously, responsive to the channel status of the other link given the TXOP being obtained on the one of the first link and the second link.

  • Publication number: 20210144589
Abstract: Multi-link operations can provide higher network throughput and improved network flexibility compared to traditional techniques for wireless communication. Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for simultaneously transmitting frames of an A-MSDU over multiple links in a multi-link operation between wireless devices (e.g., a wireless STA and a wireless AP). The A-MSDU can be aggregated to satisfy capability requirements of the transmitting device and/or the receiving device. Moreover, the A-MSDU can be fragmented, for example, to satisfy an MPDU length requirement of the transmitting device and/or the receiving device. Some embodiments disclosed herein use a virtual mac address of an LLC sublayer interface to define parameters values of an A-MSDU sub-frame header (e.g., SA and DA) for routing the respective frame to the LLC sublayer interface of the receiving device.
