  • Publication number: 20110089750
Abstract: A fiber reinforced plastic bicycle wheel rim is formed of six segments per side and formed in a section having precisely formed, machinable brake surfaces and preferably combining inner high modulus fiber reinforced plastic lamination as a main structural body and an outer lamination of improved frictional coefficient materials at the braking surfaces. The main structural body with overlapped individual sheets of unidirectional fiber reinforced plastic, having crossing fibers, in segments, and continuous unidirectional fiber bundles in areas of concentrated load, enables strong, light wheels for sew up or clincher tires to be formed. Because of the unique thermodynamic properties of a clincher bicycle wheel rim, an all-composite rim formed with an epoxy matrix with a Tg of 350 or greater is advantageous.

  • Publication number: 20100316353
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing stream linking in audio/video disk media is disclosed. The present invention sets-up an audio/video stream on a disk drive, uses read and write commands for accessing contiguous data and, given an established stream, establishes a linked stream by sending a linked stream request with the number of a primary stream to the drive. The new stream inherits the beginning and ending addresses of the primary stream.

  • Publication number: 20100199827
Abstract: A cutting tool assembly that includes a holder that supports a blade for use with cutting tables. At least one roller is attached to the holder and extends beyond a perimeter of the holder in a direction that is normal to an axis of rotation of the roller. The blade extends from the holder in a common direction with the roller and includes a cutting edge that is oriented in a direction that is generally normal to the axis of rotation of the roller. During a cutting process, the roller maintains the position of the material with respect to the sharpened edge of the blade.

  • Publication number: 20100160099
Abstract: A bicycle derailleur assembly that is mounted concentrically with an axle of a rear wheel assembly. The derailleur is constructed to be mounted to the bicycle such that the derailleur is pivotable about a common axis with the rear wheel and such that the rear wheel can be removed from the bicycle without interfering with the connection of the derailleur to the bicycle. The derailleur system provides a derailleur that is robust and reduces interference of the derailleur with the performance of bicycle maintenance.

  • Publication number: 20090084639
Abstract: A brake system for a bicycle includes a number of brake members constructed to engage one another, such as a rotor and a shoe or pad. At least one of the brake members includes fiber reinforcing members. The fiber reinforcing members are distributed throughout the brake member and communicate the braking loads across a substantial portion of the brake member. The braking member is further constructed to distribute the heat associated with a braking action in a generally uniform manner across the brake member. Preferably, the brake member is formed with carbon-type fibers suspended in a Bismaleimide type material. Such a construction provides a powerful, lightweight and robust brake system.

  • Patent number: 7464950
Abstract: A continuous fiber reinforced plastic bicycle fork has continuous fibers extending from the tip of the fork blades to the steer tube, formed through optimum compaction, low void molding resulting in precise forming of the fork shell such that a metal steer tube, metal bearing races, metal dropouts and metal brake mount are used to attach metal components such as a headset and star-fangled nut, handlebar stem, wheel and brake thereby eliminating metal component to carbon fiber contact to preserve the integrity of the fiber reinforcements and plastic matrix.

  • Patent number: 6721854
Abstract: An external controller performs a thorough analysis and prediction on true requests from an application to issue a look-ahead request to an HDD or other auxiliary storage. An HDC card is connected to an HDD device which stores data and has a cache memory. The HDC card, which controls the HDD device, includes an access request tracer for tracing a true access request made by an application program executed by a host directly from the application program, a speculation request determination section for determining a speculation request to be expected later based on the traced true access request, and an HDC for issuing the determined speculation request to the HDD device.

  • Patent number: 6553455
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing passed pointer detection in audio/video streams on disk media. The present invention sets up an audio/video stream on a disk drive, uses read and write commands for accessing contiguous data and provides a pointer system that provides a warning when manipulating the pointers during fast forward and reverse functions that one pointer has passed the other. The position of a first pointer and a second pointer in at least one stream is monitored during a command execution. A determination is made when the positions of the first and second pointers cross to create a passed pointer state. An indicator is set to signal that a passed pointer state has occurred. The passed pointer indicator is then used to prevent anomalous behavior in processing of the at least one stream.

  • Patent number: 5805857
Abstract: This disclosure relates to translating cylinder-head-sector (CHS) addressing of digital data written to or read from a DASD so as to accommodate DASD storage capacities in excess of the approximately five hundred twenty eight megabyte capacity limit imposed by Interrupt 13 design in an Industry Standard Architecture personal computer system. A CHS (cylinder-head-sector) address in a first frame of reference which meets the restraints of Interrupt 13 design in the ISA BIOS is translated to a CHS address in a second frame of reference which meets the physical characteristics of a DASD which is otherwise outside the restraints of Interrupt 13 design in the ISA BIOS.
