  • Patent number: 9892147
Abstract: An indication of a power-up of a storage device may be received. In response to receiving the indication, a first data structure that is stored at a volatile memory of the storage device may be retrieved. The first data structure may include first information associated with characteristics of a plurality of data blocks of the storage device. A second data structure stored at a non-volatile memory of the storage device may be retrieved where the second data structure includes second information associated with the characteristics of the plurality of data blocks of the storage device. A new data structure may be created based on the first information and the second information and a rule where an entry of the new data structure is provided a value from one of the first information or the second information based on the rule.

  • Publication number: 20170286118
Abstract: A processor of an aspect includes a plurality of caches at a plurality of different cache levels. The processor also includes a decode unit to decode a fetch instruction. The fetch instruction is to indicate address information for a memory location, and the fetch instruction is to indicate a cache level of the plurality of different cache levels. The processor also includes a cache controller coupled with the decode unit, and coupled with a cache at the indicated cache level. The cache controller, in response to the fetch instruction, is to store data associated with the memory location in the cache, wherein the fetch instruction is architecturally guaranteed to be completed. Other processors, methods, systems, and machine-readable storage mediums storing instructions are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9747039
Abstract: A method includes receiving, by a storage drive and from a storage controller, a modified first reservation command including a first logical unit identifier. The first reservation command includes a first host identifier to identify a first host controller was previously received by the storage controller from the first host controller. The first reservation command was modified by the storage controller to replace the first host identifier with the first logical unit identifier. The method also includes responsive to receiving the modified first reservation command, identifying, by the storage drive, a first logical unit of storage based on the first logical unit identifier of the modified reservation command. The method includes granting, by the storage drive, a reservation for access to the storage drive on behalf of the first host controller by associating the reservation for the first logical unit with a second logical unit of storage.

  • Patent number: 9740408
Abstract: A storage device associated with a storage array may be identified. Information specifying an organization of data included in a data structure may be retrieved from the storage device. The data may be associated with characteristics of a plurality of data blocks of the storage device. A read operation or a write operation may be performed for the storage device based on the information specifying the organization of the data included in the data structure that is associated with the characteristics of the plurality of data blocks of the storage device.

  • Patent number: 9721434
Abstract: After the main ball drop of a bingo game, a player may be given a free extra bingo number. A probability of awarding a free ball may be determined, at least in part, according to a desired paytable percentage for the bingo game. In some implementations providing multi-card bingo games, a player is required to hit a predetermined pattern on more than one bingo card in order to obtain a progressive award. The number of hits in the pattern(s) and/or the number of bingo cards involved may be determined according to a desired progressive award size and/or a desired probability of obtaining the progressive award. Players may have an opportunity to purchase an additional bingo number or a block of a plurality of additional bingo numbers after the main ball drop. The block may be offered at a discount compared to the price of an individual additional bingo number.

  • Patent number: 9612901
Abstract: Use of hybrid error correcting code (ECC) techniques. A memory access request having an associated address is received. A memory controller determines whether the address corresponds to a first region of a memory for which ECC techniques are applied or a second region of the memory for which ECC techniques are not applied. The memory access is processed utilizing ECC techniques if the address corresponds to the first region of the memory, a transaction indicator and an execution unit indicator, and processed without utilizing the ECC techniques if the address corresponds to the second region of the memory.
