Abstract: A traffic monitoring system includes a first car moving on a first path; a camera having a field of vision including at least a portion of the first path; and a computing system. The computing system receives a plurality of images from the camera. The computing system has a processor. When instructed, the processor performs circling a perimeter of the first car on each of the images with a first rectangle; composing a first set of points, each point of the first set of points representing a center of the first rectangle; finding a first centroid using the first set of points, wherein the first centroid represents the first path; and calculating a speed of the first car using the first centroid.

Abstract: A system and method for recycling food scraps are provided. Food scraps are received into the system and is conveyed to a depacker. The depacker separates organics in the food scraps from packaging trash. Cleanliness in the depacker is controlled via a screen size. The organics are cooked in a cooker at a predetermined time and temperature to create an animal feed which is stored or delivered.

Abstract: A monitoring device for a control valve on a railcar comprises a microcontroller that includes a memory component, along with a voltage sensor that is in electrical communication with one or more solenoids associated with the control valve. When a selected solenoid is actuated, the voltage sensor reads a voltage and communicates the voltage to the microcontroller, with the microcontroller storing the voltage and other pertinent data in the memory component.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for performing a calibration routine of a deposition device in a three-dimensional modeling machine that deposits a material to build up three-dimensional objects as directed by a controller on a substrate mounted on a platform. The method comprises generating a material build profile, which represents a three-dimensional structure at defined locations. A relative position of the material build profile is then determined. An expected build profile is identified and then compared to the determined relative position of the material build profile to identify any difference which represents an offset. The modeling system then positions the deposition device based upon the offset.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a multi-format memory card drive having a multi-format memory card slot configured to receive any of a plurality of memory cards having a corresponding plurality of memory card formats. At least one of the plurality of memory cards has a memory card format that is different from another memory card format of the plurality of memory card formats. A bezel is configured for installation over the multi-format memory card slot. The bezel is configured to select a subset of the plurality of memory card formats that can be received by the multi-format memory card slot of the multi-format memory card drive.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for entering an email address using an @ symbol. The email address may be entered at a user interface having a display and a data input terminal. The email address is shown on the device display while the address is entered. An @ symbol may be displayed at or near a cursor representing a current character location. As a user enters the user name portion of the email address, the characters are displayed and the position of the cursor and @ symbol may be automatically advanced. Once the user name is entered, the user may then advance the position of the cursor to a domain name side of the @ symbol by entering a move command, such as by selecting a right arrow button. When the cursor is on the domain name side of the @ symbol, the position of the @ symbol may be fixed.

Abstract: An integrated home entertainment unit includes a print media source, a print engine coupled to the print media source configured to hold a print medium, an optical disk drive configured to output formatted digital data, and a controller. The controller has a processor and a decoder, and controller being communicatively coupled to the optical disk drive and to the print engine. The decoder is configured to decode the formatted digital data to produce output data. The processor executes instructions to control the print engine to print an image on the print medium supplied from the print media source using at least a part of the output data. A housing has mounted therein the print media source, the print engine, the optical disk drive, and the controller.

Abstract: A system and method are described for the calibration of ink ejecting nozzles in a device including an inkjet printer and a scanner. The ejecting nozzles form one or more pens in a printhead cartridge. The method includes the steps of printing a test pattern including a plurality of patches onto a sheet of material using the ink ejecting nozzles. The sheet of material having the test pattern printed thereon is scanned with the scanner and scanned data is produced for each of the patches. The scanned data is analyzed in a control to determine a selected patch based on its color density, and the ink ejecting nozzles are calibrated based upon the analysis.

Abstract: Disclosed is a modeling filament for use as feedstock in a fused deposition modeling liquifier, and a method for manufacturing the filament. The diameter and standard deviation of the filament are controlled to meet various tolerance requirements of jam resistance, slip resistance, model strength, liquifier overflow prevention and hysteresis-free transient response. Standard deviation of the filament diameter is matched to a filament target diameter. The resulting filament is used to form high-quality models.

Abstract: An apparatus for connecting a printer to a cellular radio system. The adapter allows the printer to conduct facsimile operations. The adapter has a facsimile module which includes executable instructions for decoding fax data and processing the fax data to generate print data for printing; a cell radio; one or more communication ports having at least one of the communication ports in communication with the printer; and a data encoder in communication with the facsimile module and the cell radio. The data encoder is configured to convert data transmitted between the facsimile module and the cell radio.

Abstract: An automated reciprocity management system for handling the electronic transfer of benefit fund information between participating funds allows users to register participants, modify participant registration profiles, reports, and cessations of funds. The automated reciprocity management system allows expedited transfer of payments to home funds of organization members who travel from one fund jurisdiction to find employment in other fund jurisdictions. Blanket authorizations for reciprocal transfers may be generated and remain effective until modified or cancelled by a participant.
